What Javonte Williams, Malik Davis injury news means for Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue in Week 18

The Dallas Cowboys have been playing out the string on a lost 2025-26 season, and they wrap things up on Sunday when they travel to face the New York Giants in Week 18. The Cowboys have nothing to play for other than pride, and they’ll be missing some key players in this game. Most notably on offense, they will be without running backs Javonte Williams and Malik Davis. That opens the door for Jaydon Blue to make his first start since the Cowboys drafted him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Williams seemed fine heading into this week, but then was added to the Thursday practice participation report. He sat out Thursday with shoulder and neck issues. He was a DNP again on Friday before being ruled out on the final injury report. Davis showed up on the injury report on Wednesday with calf and eye issues. He was a DNP all three weeks before being ruled out. The Cowboys placed both players on injured reserve to officially end their seasons.

Jaydon Blue fantasy football analysis

It is a good bet that Blue gets the bulk of Sunday’s workload. The team activated running back Phil Mafah, but look for him to serve as no more than a depth option.

Blue has 22 carries for 65 yards and a five-yard reception this season. His biggest opportunity came in Week 7 and Week 8 when he had 15 of those carries for 58 yards. He had a fumble in Week 8, and that likely didn’t help him make his case for more work. Since then, he hasn’t touched the ball or even had an offensive snap. This week, he very well could match his season totals. He’s got talent, but at the very least he is an interesting volume play for Week 18 fantasy championships and DFS.
