West Brom next manager odds: Former England iterim boss joint favourite to replace Mason

West Bromwich Albion sacked head coach Ryan Mason on Tuesday morning and now they search for a replacement to bolster their chances in the Championship for the rest of the season.

The Baggies sit down in 18th place after four losses in their last five in the league but they do still stand just ten points off of the play-offs spots which is never out of the question for the Championship.

It’s incredibly close in the Championship once again this year between the lower end of the play-off places and the spots above the relegation zone.

West Brom are just seven points away from the relegation zone occupied by Norwich City.

And with four losses in their last five it’s no surprise they’ve cut ties with Mason with the look to improve things as the second half of the season has only really just begun.

Former Southampton and Vfl Wolfsburg manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is among the favourites with decent experience in the English leagues for the Saints.

But the biggest inclusion is previous England interim boss Lee Carsley.

The 51-year-old has 470 appearances for a variety of top English clubs and has been a caretaker manager for Coventry and Birmingham as well as a very brief stint as Brentford boss.

Carsley was mostly involved in coaching within youth developments which landed him as manager of England U20 and then England U21 before stepping in to cover Gareth Southgate’s departure as boss of the England national team.

Former Man United player Michael Carrick is also amongst the list of names, having been linked as a strong contender for a move to West Ham despite things going incredibly well for him in second place in the Championship with Middlesbrough.
