Varun Chakravarthy pulled off a stunning low catch to dismiss a well-set Abhishek Sharma during Match No.6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After being put in to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got off to a strong start, with Abhishek looking in fine touch and inching closer to a half-century. However, his impressive knock was cut short in the ninth over.

Bowling the over, Blessing Muzarabani delivered a short-of-length ball on the fourth delivery. Abhishek attempted a pull shot despite limited room, managing to hit it flat towards deep square leg. The ball, however, did not carry fully. Varun was positioned in the deep, showcasing exceptional awareness and agility. He is known more for his mystery spin than fielding, bent low and scooped the ball inches above the ground to complete a brilliant catch.

Abhishek was dismissed for a quickfire 48 off 21 balls, an innings that included two fours and four sixes, giving his side a solid start before his departure.
