Utrecht are going to be up against it with Nottingham Forest looking to ensure they stay in the top 24 in the League Phase of the Europa League.

The Tricky Trees’ domestic star didn’t start so well and they sit 17th in the table.

But they won three in their last five league outings as well as some other well-fought results in the Europa League too.

In November it was really when the form started to turn around somewhat, but the damage of the previous months losses cannot be undone and they still find themselves in a relegation scrap.

That said, since then they’ve drawn to Man United, beaten Leeds, Liverpool, Malmo and Wolves to give them a much better chance.

It’s surprising considering how strong they were last season but managerial issues combined with players departing, players respective forms etc they now need some big results in the coming weeks.

Utrecht away on paper looks solid for Forest to come away with something but it won’t be straightforward.

Set piece specialists

All five of Nottingham Forest’s European goals under Sean Dyche this season have come through set pieces.

Two penalties, a throw-in and two corners which is the most of any side since his first game on matchday three.

They are also the only side not to concede a goal since Dyche’s first match on 23 October, a dramatic turn of form defensively.

However, sometimes the goals haven’t quite been there like they had before when all kinds of players were popping up hitting the back of the net.

To add on to Forest’s good form, Utrecht have really poor form as they are winless in their last 16 major European clashes, a run going back to 2004.
