Tyson Fury posts fresh training footage as fans left concerned by bulky physique

Tyson Fury looks to be carrying some extra timber around his midriff as he gears up for a highly probable comeback.

‘The Gypsy King’ hung up his gloves 12 months ago after suffering back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

However, it is understood that plans are in place for him to return to the ring this year.

His first assignment will be a tune-up fight in the first quarter of 2026, and providing he comes through that unscathed, then Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh is hoping to stage the long-awaited all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua in the summer.

In preparation for what could be the final push of his career, Fury travelled to Thailand to train with WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena.

Brief clips of Fury’s pad work revealed that there is still plenty of snap to his jab, while he controlled his range well during a move around with Lerena.

But the big talking point among fans was the two-time heavyweight world champion’s bulky physique.

While Fury has never boasted washboard abs and chiselled muscular definition, the 37-year-old appeared to be significantly fleshier than usual as he ditched his top to lay into the heavy bag.

Fans react to Tyson Fury footage

Expressing concern in the comment section, one fan wrote: “He’s got some weight to shed!”

Another posted: “Looks like he needs a solid 14 month camp.”

A third commented: “Dude is looking big.”

Meanwhile, somebody else added: “Fury has put on a lot of weight.”

The date for Fury’s summer showdown with Joshua may be subject to change after a car the Watford powerhouse was travelling in collided with a stationary truck in Nigeria on Monday.

Joshua was discharged from hospital on Wednesday night with minor injuries.

However, his two team members and close friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, were killed in the accident.

Ayodele was Joshua’s personal trainer, and Ghami was his strength and conditioning coach.

Joshua is understandably distraught, and while his body may recover quickly, the emotional scars are likely to cut deeper.

Fury was among those to pay his respects to Ayodele and Ghami, who were well respected in the boxing community.

Taking to social media, he wrote: “This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven.”
