Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford predictions and betting tips – Frank faces former club

Thomas Frank has had a rocky start to his Tottenham Hotspur tenure, but his team at least avoided defeat by Newcastle United in the midweek round of fixtures.

Brentford, Frank’s former club, head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. Spurs have struggled at home up to now – can Brentford inflict more misery on their ex-head coach?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford predictions

Thomas Frank bought himself a little breathing space in midweek, but he is not out of the woods yet.

A last-gasp Cristian Romero overhead kick earned Tottenham Hotspur a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday night. It was a creditable result given Newcastle’s recent uptick in form.

However, Frank is still not sitting comfortably. He has had a difficult start to his Tottenham tenure, not least because his team have been so miserable at home.

Only last-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers have a worse record in front of their own fans than Spurs, who are without a win in north London since the opening weekend.

Tottenham have fared pretty well on their travels (no team has collected more points at opposition grounds), but the club’s supporters are understandably aggrieved by how poor Spurs have been on home turf, not least because they pay some of the highest ticket prices in European football.

Frank deserves time to get things right. He inherited a team that finished 17th in the Premier League last term, something which was masked by their success in the Europa League.

Frank has also been without some key players, with James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke having mustered just two substitute appearances between them in 2025/26.

However, his task has been made more difficult by an apparent culture clash with the fans. Historically, Tottenham have prided themselves on playing attacking, attractive football.

Frank, for all his qualities, is a pragmatic coach. His Brentford team were consistently one of the most direct sides in the division. The focus was on getting the ball from back to front quickly, a strategy which is better suited to a mid-table outfit than one with top-four aspirations.

This weekend Frank will come face to face with his old employers, who are going along nicely under his successor.

Keith Andrews was a left-field pick to replace Frank, but he has done an excellent job so far. With 19 points to their name, Brentford are eight clear of the drop zone.

“It will be a nice timing for us to get the three points on Saturday,” Frank said in his pre-match press conference.

“There’s only one way to do that, to put a good performance in there, work on the things we are constantly working on, phase two, phase three, constantly make it sharper, quicker.”

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford betting tips

Tottenham Hotspur face Brentford on Saturday in a massive match for Thomas Frank.

Tottenham to triumph

Of the 19 points Brentford have accumulated up to now, a whopping 16 have come at home.

Much of the talk ahead of this game has inevitably focused on Tottenham Hotspur’s poor record at their own ground, but Brentford have been even worse on unfamiliar soil.

That should give Spurs hope for Saturday. They will have plenty of the ball and must show more ideas in possession than they have done of late.

But only three teams have conceded more away goals than Brentford, so Tottenham should have some success going forward.

This is unlikely to be a one-sided affair, but Frank’s team should find a path to victory.

Goals at both ends

This bet has paid out in each of Tottenham’s last four Premier League fixtures, as well as in three of Brentford’s last four.

Tottenham have often lacked invention and guile this term, partly because of their tactical approach and partly because of the absence of certain personnel.

But as mentioned above, Brentford struggle to keep the back door shut on the road, so Spurs should score here.

At the same time, their defence has been anything but watertight of late, so the Bees will like their chances of getting on the scoreboard.

Kudus to step up

The aforementioned Romero was the unlikely hero for Tottenham last time out, scoring twice at St James’ Park to help his side avoid defeat.

While occasional contributions from defenders are welcome, the responsibility to score goals falls to the attackers, and Mohammed Kudus is our pick to make the net bulge against Brentford.

The Ghana international has not entirely shed his reputation for inconsistency, but his talent is not in doubt.

Kudus has only scored two goals this term, though, a tally he must improve. There would be no better time to start than Saturday.
