Tom Brady lands new TV role with Raiders on clock and desperate to avoid repeat of legendary bust

The Las Vegas Raiders are on the clock.

After the New York Giants stunned the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18, the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NFL Draft is officially heading to Sin City.

While Las Vegas still has to close out one of the worst seasons in franchise history against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, it’s a game that means very little.

The front office, perhaps, will already be looking at the best way to improve upon a campaign that has only seen two wins heading into the final weekend.

Minority owner Tom Brady, who is regarded as the greatest quarterback ever, will no doubt have a hand in that — and has already made his feelings clear on projected top pick Fernando Mendoza.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion, though, is a busy man.

As well as owning a stake in the Raiders, Brady is currently working under a 10-year, $375 million contract as Fox Sports’ lead NFL analyst — and is in the booth every Sunday.

It appears he also landed a new TV role for Week 18 too.

Tom Brady appears in new Pizza Hut advert

Ahead of calling a big game between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions at Solider Field, Brady starred in a brand new Pizza Hut commercial.

In the 30-second ad, the NFL legend is seen delivering pies to stunned fans.

“You know what I miss most about playing? Yelling ‘Hut!'” Brady says, staring into the camera.

He then knocks on a number of doors, and hands over the pizza while delivering a ‘Hut!’ for good measure.

The amusing spot also sees Brady tackled to the floor by an over-excited grandma, to which he accuses her of ‘roughing the passer’.

Pizza Hut’s new advert quickly went viral on social media, with fans absolutely loving the former quarterback’s starring role.

“That Tom Brady Pizza Hut commercial is the best thing I’ve seen all year, and of course it debuts at the beginning of the Patriots game, f***ing genius,” one wrote on X.

“Pizza Hut should had saved that Tom Brady commercial for the Super Bowl,” another said.

“This was pure gold,” a third wrote.

“Hilarious. Best commercial of 2026. Brady’s the best,” a fourth claimed.

While Brady showed off his acting skills in that new ad, he will soon need to get down to serious business in Las Vegas.

When did the Raiders last have the No. 1 pick?

The last time the franchise had the first overall selection was back in 2007, and it’s fair to say they blew it.

Playing in Oakland at the time, the Raiders took LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell with the top pick.

He is widely regarded as one of the biggest busts in history.

The NFL Draft was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. JaMarcus Russell was selected by the Raiders with the no. 1 overall pick. Calvin Johnson went to the Lions with the second pick.

Russell’s NFL career was marked by inconsistent play and questions over his work ethic. He spent just three seasons with the Raiders before being released in 2010.

Despite attempts to return, he was unable to sign with another team after that.

Russell’s final stats as a Raider were a 52.1% pass completion rate, an 18-23 touchdown to interception ratio, a passer rating of 65.2.

He went 7-18 as the starting QB, and threw for 4,803 yards across three seasons.

Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?

Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and more

Tight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who was selected second in the 2007 draft, and offensive tackle Joe Thomas, who went third, both ended up in the Hall of Fame.

Running backs Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch, as well as legendary tight end Greg Olsen, also went as first-round picks that year.

The Raiders will be hoping to avoid any repeat of 2007 when they make their selection at the event in Pittsburgh next April.

Las Vegas had a dismal season in 2025, and the decision to reunite head coach Pete Carroll with QB Geno Smith was nothing short of a disaster.

The franchise now has the chance to hit the reset button at the draft, and having someone like Brady advising on who to pick will no doubt be useful.
