Thomas Tuchel told to start Morgan Rogers and Jude Bellingham with Aston Villa star in new England role
Morgan Rogers is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore ahead of the World Cup.
The England star scored two more exceptional goals on Sunday to keep Aston Villa within touching distance of the Premier League summit in their 2-1 win over Manchester United.

With each passing gameweek, it looks increasingly likely that three of Rogers, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer could be left on the bench for the Three Lions’ opening match against Croatia at next summer’s World Cup.
And crazy as it would have sounded at the start of 2025, Rogers may now be the frontrunner to start.
National boss Thomas Tuchel has insisted to talkSPORT that he will only pick one specialist No.10 – no matter how many there are at his disposal.
The England manager has made a deliberate move away from putting square pegs in round holes – he would rather leave superstars on the bench than play them in the wrong position.
While Bellingham and Foden have recently returned to form – and Palmer is back from a lengthy injury lay-off – it is Rogers who Tuchel has shown the most affection for since taking the England job.
Rogers on the left?
talkSPORT pundit Rory Jennings insists the German tactician should consider a new role for the Aston Villa sensation.
“There’s a world where Morgan Rogers could be the answer for England but not in the way that everybody’s saying,” Jennings said.
“Even Thomas Tuchel himself has spoken about how it’s Morgan Rogers or Jude Bellingham. Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers are very good friends. They’re competing with one another for a place in the England team.
“The argument I’d make is surely there’s a world where Morgan Rogers is the answer for England alongside Bellingham.
“There’s one position in the England front line that’s up for debate. Bukayo Saka’s place is nailed on. Harry Kane, obviously, his place in the team is nailed on.

“It’s the left-hand side where there is a bit of jeopardy. Some would argue Anthony Gordon, some would argue Marcus Rashford, some would argue Jack Grealish.
“Surely Morgan Rogers. playing that position and we saw him play so well there yesterday, he can be our answer in that position which would mean he could link up with Jude Bellingham.
“You’d be able to get them both in the team.”
For both of his goals on Sunday, Rogers collected the ball in a left forward position and drove inside before firing an expert finish into the far corner.
However, Jennings suggests that if Tuchel will only pick one, Bellingham’s reputation in the big moments will be difficult to overlook.
He added: “I find it very difficult to ignore Jude Bellingham’s big game clutch moments. I find it very difficult.
“But I think Phil Foden deserves a mention here. He’s played himself back into contention.
“So I think these are wonderful problems. What we need to be very careful of is we don’t position what is a gift for the England manager as being a problem.
“How do you get all of these world-class footballers into the same team? That’s a dream situation for Tuchel.”
