The unorthodox reason Ronald Acuna Jr. likely won’t play for Braves in Marlins series
The Atlanta Braves have a huge task in front of them, and they have played first third of the season like they are strong enough to unseat the Los Angeles Dodgers as the best team in baseball. After beating the lowly Boston Red Sox in two of three games over the weekend, they have a 32-15 record and an 8.0 game lead over the second-place Philadelphia Phillies.
The Braves own the best record in Major League Baseball. They are getting it done because their key players are producing on a consistent basis. Slugger Matt Olson has bashed 14 home runs and he has driven in 37 runs. Drake Baldwin has had an excellent start to the season with 13 home runs and 36 RBI. Ozzie Albies has added 8 home runs and 25 RBI.
However, the Braves are still waiting for Ronald Acuna Jr. to hit his stride. Widely recognized as one of the most explosive players in the sport, Acuna has just 2 home runs and 9 RBI. He also has 7 stolen bases but has been caught stealing four times.
Acuna is not likely to play in the Braves upcoming series against the Marlins in Miami. Acuna has been on the Injured List since straining his left hamstring in early May. He is making progress from the injury, but he does not like the turf in Miami and he does not want to chance any further injury on the synthetic grass at LoanDepot Park in South Florida.
The Braves are scheduled to play four games at Miami before they return home to play a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. Acuna is more likely to play next weekend against Washington.
