‘That’s a hater’ – Tottenham fan forced to sit through wild Arsenal Champions League celebrations

Tottenham fan Abbi Summers had the worst seat in the house on talkSPORT Goals for Arsenal’s latest Champions League win.

The Gunners stormed to a sixth straight win in Europe on Wednesday night, as they beat Club Brugge 3-0 in Belgium to extend their lead at the top of the competition’s league phase table.

Mikel Arteta‘s side now boast a maximum of 18 points, putting them three points clear of Bayern Munich in the opening round standings.

It was a dominant display from Arsenal, who opened the scoring after 25 minutes through a stunning solo goal from Noni Madueke.

The £52million summer signing picked up the ball on the right-hand side, before driving infield and unleashing an unstoppable effort that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar.

This was Madueke’s second goal since his arrival at the Emirates, and certainly a goal of the season contender.

Tough watch for Tottenham

While Gunners fans up and down the country will have enjoyed the memorable strike, few of them were better placed than diehard supporter CJ, better known online as ‘Deluded Gooner’.

The Arsenal superfan was among the panel for Wednesday night’s edition of talkSPORT Goals, in partnership with William Hill, where he joined Sam Ellard and Marcus Speller to react to the goals as they went in.

Also in the studio was avid Tottenham supporter Summers – and she could barely hide her frustration as CJ delighted in Madueke’s opener.

Reacting to the stunning effort, a thrilled CJ raved: “YES! Noni Madueke! What a screamer!

“Noni, stop it – naughty boy! Saka, you’re not playing today, man.

“I need my three points against Wolves [on Saturday]. Today – the subs and B Team [are playing]. Oh, Noni – fire! Yes!”

But it left a sour taste in the mouth for Spurs fan Summers

Continuing to rave about his team, CJ clapped and added: “Look at my travelling fans – big them up as well for making the journey.

“Where’s the replays? It’s taking too long to see the screamer.”

At this point, the cameras panned to a furious Summers, who wore a face like thunder and remained silent.

But this didn’t stop CJ as he continued to hail Madueke, whose arrival from Chelsea in the summer was met with resistance from sections of the Arsenal support – namely a #NOTOMADUEKE petition.

The thrilled Gunners fan mused: “Noni Madueke! I hate to be that guy, but if Eden Hazard, [Mohamed] Salah, etc, did that, it would be spoken about all week.

“It’s Lionel Messi-esque!” added the Gunners diehard, who wore a huge grin and began to whoop and cheer.

The talkSPORT Goals panel were all amused by CJ’s reaction – apart from one person

He went on: “And there were petitions not to sign this guy! Let the manager and the recruitment team recruit players.

“Arsenal fans, just shut up and accept these things. Lovely! [It’s] 0-0, boys. Every time I’m here, my team wins!”

‘Steady’

After fellow panellist Speller chimed in to call Madueke’s strike ‘one of the goals of the season’, Summers was unable to take any more.

Looking unimpressed, she fired back: “Steady.”

Her furious response only made CJ more amused, who laughed before winding up his co-star by reminding her that she may well have to support Madueke over the coming months.

He joked back: “Steady? That’s a hater!

“The country’s playing from June to July – we’re going to need him for the World Cup! He’s a player [Thomas] Tuchel rates very, very highly.”

Summers refused to entertain any talk of Madueke starring at the World Cup

The Spurs fan and presenter was in no mood to hear this, who snapped: “It’s not June yet, it’s December.

“Like you said, you don’t look at the table until [the end of the season]. I’m not looking at the World Cup until June.”

While Summers was reminded by co-star Speller that we must all get behind England, she continued to protest: “We’re not there yet!”

As Summers then went quiet, prompting laughter from the studio as Speller quipped: “The silence is golden from Abby.”

And things can’t have got much better for Summers thereafter, as Madueke then grabbed another goal in the second half, before Gabriel Martinelli curled in a fine third on 56 minutes.
