Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath has given Australia their next big target - win the next series in England. The Aussies thumped England in the recent Ashes 4-1.

The year 2001 was the last time Australia won a Test series against their arch-rivals in England. McGrath reckoned that Australia has the team to beat England in their backyard. He also mentioned a few players from the Australian camp to watch out for come the tour England in 2027.

"The next goal for this Australia side will be winning in England in 2027. It's a big thing for Australia to go there and actually walk away with the win. Australia definitely have the team to win. There won't be too many retirements between now and then. Australia will want Cummins back and bowling well, and they will want Hazlewood back. England have also seen what Boland is capable of doing. The way that Head is going about things is exceptional," wrote McGrath, in a column for BBC Sport.

The 55-year-old hinted that he will continue with his customary 5-0 prediction in favour of Australia. However, McGrath remained firm in his belief that winning the 2027 Ashes will be Australia's Everest to scale.

"A win would be massive for Australia. They've won everywhere apart from India and England. There are a lot of players there - Steve Smith, Cummins, Lyon, Starc - that have never won in England. It will be tough, but I'll probably come out with my normal 5-0 whitewash prediction before the series - I can't help myself. That is their next goal and their Everest," he added.

Australia won the 2001 series in England 4-1. Since that series, they have played six times in England, losing four (2005, 2009, 2013 and 2015) and drawing twice (2019 and 2023).
