Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson huge showdown announced with date and venue confirmed
Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson’s long awaited clash will headline a blockbuster start to 2026.
The pair have been rivals for several years across multiple divisions, and are two of US boxing’s biggest superstar names.
They will now go head-to-head in a blockbuster clash on January 31 next year.
New York will play host to the event, which will be a Ring VI promoted by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh.
It will see Lopez defend his WBO and Ring Magazine super-lightweight titles against Stevenson, who will be making the switch from 135lbs to 140lbs.
Lopez said on the clash: “Duck, Duck, Goose! Are you ready for New York City?
“Brick city in the concrete jungle, so let’s get ready to rumble! The Takeover is here to stay, not play.
“Make Boxing Great Again is my forte. Shakur will fall in nine.”
Stevenson added: “I have never shied away from a challenge and always chased the biggest fights in the sport because I know I am one of the best boxers in the world.
“Teofimo Lopez will learn that firsthand on January 31 when I take his belt and show him that there are levels to this game.
“New York, get ready for a spectacular performance as I take over a fourth straight weight division.”
