Thursday football tips
Bet of the day – Over 3.5 goals – Barcelona Women vs Real Madrid Women @ 20/21
A cracking game should be on the cards when Barcelona Women entertain Real Madrid Women. The first leg finished 6-2 to Barcelona, suggesting the tie is pretty much over.
While Barcelona Women have one foot in the semi-finals, another thrilling game should be on the cards, and, at least three goals have been scored in four of Barcelona Women’s last five matches.
Barcelona Women beat Real Madrid Women 3-0 in the league on Sunday and games between the two teams often throw up high-scoring affairs.
In the last 15 meetings, four goals or more have been scored in 11 encounters.
Bet Builder – Wigan Athletic vs Leyton Orient – Under 2.5 goals, Leyton Orient to win or draw @ 29/20
Wigan Athletic and Leyton Orient will both look to move one step closer to safety when they meet on Thursday night. The Latics are 19th and two points above the bottom four, while Leyton Orient are two places and four points better off.
Orient won 2-0 back in August at Wigan’s expense, and they are unbeaten in five in the third tier. Wigan lost 3-0 to Reading last week, so confidence will be lower than expected, but they have won four of their last five on home soil.
The visitors have the better form and should leave the Brick Community Stadium with a share of the spoils, but there’s every chance we will witness a low-scoring affair. Wigan have kept four clean sheets in their last four wins at home, while Orient have not shipped a goal in their previous two outings.
In addition, under 2.5 goals has landed in the last five head-to-head battles.
Acca – Draw between Cambridge United vs Swindon Town, Over 3.5 goals in Lyon Women vs Wolfsburg Women, Almeria double chance vs Castellon @ 19/2
In League Two, there’s little to split Cambridge and Swindon and the draw looks good value this week. The U’s have seen under 2.5 goals land in seven of their last eight games and they are proving hard to beat.
At home, they have the best record in League Two, only losing once in 19 matches, but Swindon are no pushovers. Ian Holloway’s side have only lost one of their last six in the fourth tier and they are unbeaten in four away from home.
All signs point to the two teams butting heads. The same cannot be said ahead of Lyon Women’s clash against Wolfsburg Women. The hosts lost 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League clash last week, but their formidable home record cannot be ignored.
Jonatan Giraldez’s side have won 21 consecutive games at home and they have scored at least three goals in 17 of those ties. Wolfsburg have already proven they can score past their hosts, but the French giants should rack up the goals once again this week.
The final leg of our multiple sees us head to Spain, where Almeria should avoid defeat against Castellon. The hosts are winless in six games in the Segunda Division, while Almeria come into the contest in good form, having lost just one of their last nine games, recording seven wins during that time.
