talkSPORT tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Wolves v Man Utd

Wolves welcome Manchester United to Molineux for Monday Night Football, live on Sky Sports Premier League.

United arrive after a 1-1 draw with West Ham at Old Trafford in midweek, a result that leaves them with just one win from their last five league outings. However, despite that run they are still only three points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

Wolves’ situation is much bleaker. They are bottom of the table having lost seven on the spin and have failed to find the net in the Premier League since their 3-2 defeat to Burnley on October 26th.

Our three best bets for the Monday night game are below.

  • Manchester United to score in both halves @ 31/20
  • Bruno Fernandes to assist a goal @ 5/2
  • Bryan Mbeumo to score first @ 4/1

United to take advantage of poor defence

United have struggled for wins recently, but they remain a side who create enough chances to trouble a Wolves defence in disarray.

The Red Devils found a way through West Ham in midweek and, despite their inconsistency, they have scored in both halves in three of their last four away matches – a pattern that suggests they are more dangerous on the road, where the pressure is slightly eased.

Wolves, meanwhile, look there for the taking. Rob Edwards’ side are on a seven-game losing run and haven’t managed a league goal since late October, but the bigger concern is the zero clean sheets all season with defensive frailties underpinning their slump.

United’s attacking threat should be enough to expose that fragile Wolves backline that has conceded 29 goals this season – only Burnley have conceded more (30). If the visitors strike first, they could well add another after the break.

Bruno to be the creator

Bruno Fernandes has been key to United’s attacking play once again this season. His overall output may be slightly below his usual levels, but he still has two goals and five assists and remains his side’s primary creative force.

Wolves are an opponent he typically thrives against. In 10 appearances he has never scored, but he has supplied six assists, consistently finding the pass that unlocks their defence.

With Wolves on a dreadful run and struggling to keep sides out, Fernandes is well placed to influence the game and another assist on Monday night looks a strong possibility.

Mbeumo to strike first

Bryan Mbeumo looks like a solid candidate to strike first on Monday night. He has an excellent record against Wolves, scoring three and assisting twice in six meetings during his Brentford days.

United have scored first in six of their last eight league matches, while Mbeumo himself opened the scoring in United’s win at Anfield and their draw at Tottenham.

With five goals already in his debut campaign for the Red Devils and Wolves struggling defensively, he has every chance of breaking the deadlock again.
