Wednesday football betting tips

Bet of the day – St Pauli to win at Wolfsburg @ 14/5

St Pauli head to Wolfsburg in the early kick off in Germany and as underdogs they look a risk worth taking in this proverbial six-pointer.

Wolfsburg have been awful at home with just five of their 15 Bundesliga points coming at the Volkswagen Arena.

St Pauli sit in the relegation zone but they are only three points behind their hosts and there have been some encouraging signs for the Hamburg club lately.

The Kiezkicker have put together a four-game unbeaten run and they face a VfL side who were crushed 8-1 at Bayern last time out. Wolfsburg have six defeats in their last seven at home, so this looks a winnable assignment for the visitors.

Bet builder – Arsenal to win, Bukayo Saka to score anytime, Joao Pedro 1+ shot on target, Martin Odegaard 1+ shot on target @ 19/1

The big game of the day takes place at Stamford Bridge and Arsenal can continue their recent dominance over Chelsea.

The Gunners are unbeaten in eight against Chelsea and are the team in the better form with seven wins in their last nine games, while the Blues have just one win in six. It remains to be seen whether new boss Liam Rosenior will make an instant impact despite a strong showing against lesser opponents when the Blues saw off Charlton in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Bukayo Saka should come into the game fresh after he was given an FA Cup rest. Saka has struggled for goals lately, but two assists in his last four games suggest he can make his mark here and end his goal drought.

Martin Odegaard has had 13 shots across his last seven league games and has a shooting accuracy of around 50%. Odegaard can test the keeper, while for Chelsea Joao Pedro looks a candidate for at least one attempt on target as he averages 0.7 shots on target per-game in the league.

Acca – Arsenal to win, Morocco to win, BTTS in Leipzig vs Freiburg, Hearts to win – @ 9/1

Arsenal should be able to get the better of Chelsea, while in AFCON hosts Morocco can overcome Nigeria in the last four.

The Atlas Lions’ defence has been virtually impenetrable with just one AFCON goal conceded, and with star man Brahim Diaz in scintillating form they should be able to edge out the Super Eagles.

In the Bundesliga, goals at both ends looks likely when RB Leipzig host Eintracht Frankfurt. Both teams have scored in each of the visitors’ last four games and in three of Leipzig’s last four, while both teams have scored in three of the last four head-to-head meetings.

Premiership leaders Hearts won 1-0 at Dundee over the weekend despite playing the entire second half with 10 men. The Edinburgh outfit should make light work of St Mirren, who are on a three-game losing run.
