Thursday football tips

Bet of the Day – West Ham or draw double chance v Manchester United @ 17/10

Manchester United have progressed this season, but the improvement has come from a low base and there is little to suggest the Red Devils should be 2/5 chances at home to West Ham on Thursday night.

It’s one win in four Premier League matches for United, and Ruben Amorim’s men have taken  only five points from fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Everton and Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils turned around a 1-0 deficit to beat Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, but the expected goals numbers finished 1.83 to 1.19 in favour of the Eagles and that performance was from a United side free from the demands of European competition.

West Ham have taken seven points in the same timeframe, with the Hammers recording victory over Newcastle and Burnley in recent contests.

United lost 1-0 to a ten-man Everton side in their most recent Old Trafford tie and the Red Devils are no good things against West Ham.

Longshot of the Day – Over 2.5 goals and Jarrod Bowen to score first in Manchester United v West Ham bet builder @ 14/1

There seems plenty of reason to expect goals at Old Trafford, whichever way the result goes.

United have seen 42 goals scored in their last 12 matches, at an average of 3.5 per game.

Ten of those matches have bust the 2.5 goal mark and another high-scoring contest looks likely on Thursday night.

For all that they have struggled this season, West Ham have scored eight goals in their last four contests, and that includes putting three goals past both Newcastle and Burnley last month.

It’s seven Premier League matches without a goal for Jarrod Bowen, but the England forward is averaging 2.38 shots per 90 minutes this term and it would be no surprise if the West Ham hitman opened the scoring at Old Trafford.

Special of the Day – Bologna to beat Parma, Milan to beat Lazio double @ 43/20

There’s cup competition in Italy on Thursday night and the European action could provide a winning double.

Parma’s miserable season continued with a 2-0 Stadio Ennio Tardini defeat to Udinese on Saturday and the Crusaders cup run is likely to be ended by a Bologna side who have lost only one of their last 13 games.

Complete a 43/20 double by playing Milan to beat Lazio. The Rossoneri downed Lazio 1-0 at the San Siro last weekend and they can repeat the trick in Rome.
