Bet of the Day – Leeds to beat Manchester United @ 13/8
Leeds are on the up under Daniel Farke and his side put in another good performance when holding Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield on New Year’s Day, extending their unbeaten run to six matches.
The Whites have faced Liverpool twice, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Chelsea in their last six games, which is no easy run of fixtures, and they picked up wins against the Eagles and the Blues at Elland Road during this period.
Farke appears to have found a system which can deliver solid results and Leeds look overpriced to pick up the win when Manchester United come to West Yorkshire.
The Red Devils disappointed when failing to beat rock-bottom Wolves in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday and they desperately missed the creativity of captain Bruno Fernandes, who remains out for this trip.
It is just one win for United in their last four matches – a fortuitous 1-0 success at home to Newcastle – and the continued unavailability of Fernandes and AFCON participants Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo may hampered Ruben Amorim’s men again.
Longshot of the Day – Sunderland to beat Tottenham, Newcastle to beat Crystal Palace & Birmingham to beat Coventry treble @ 18/1
Tottenham have won just one of their last eight home Premier League games and they make little appeal when hosting surprise package Sunderland, who picked up an excellent point at home to Manchester City on New Year’s Day.
The Black Cats are unbeaten in four matches and they may just have enough to overcome Spurs, who have scored a miserly 11 goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from nine games.
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last 10 matches at St James’ Park in all competitions, winning eight and drawing two of those contests, while Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool are the only teams to leave Tyneside with victories.
The Magpies have won the last three league meetings against Palace at home, all to nil, and Eddie Howe’s men can overcome an Eagles outfit on a six-game run without a victory.
Birmingham haven’t won since the start of December but they may be able to get back to winning ways when hosting leaders Coventry, who have picked up just one victory in their last four outings.
Blues are unbeaten in their last seven games at St. Andrew’s and that strong home form could be enough to see off the Sky Blues, who last won on their travels in November.
Special of the Day – Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals @ 28/25
Manchester City lost ground on title rivals Arsenal following Thursday’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland, but the Citizens should feel confident of getting back to winning ways when welcoming Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won 11 of their last 12 matches at the Etihad in all competitions and have scored at least three goals in six of their last eight home fixtures.
Chelsea are rudderless following the departure of manager Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day and the Blues, who are without a win in their last three away games in the league, could be in for more disappointment on their travels.
