Bet of the Day – Under 3.5 goals in Liverpool v Barnsley @ 21/20

Premier League champions Liverpool host League One Barnsley in the third-round of the FA Cup and the Reds are expected to make smooth progress to round four. It’s a stretch to think the Tykes can upset Arne Slot’s men at Anfield, but it isn’t going to be a full-strength Liverpool side and Barnsley could stay competitive.

Alexander Isak and Conor Bradley are out injured, Mohamed Salah is away on international duty, Hugo Ekitike is unlikely to be risked and Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are likely to be rested.

That is a huge amount of quality extracted from the Merseyside men and Liverpool’s first-choice team has hardly been in free-scoring form.

The Reds have scored only nine goals in their last seven matches and there are no guarantees of the step down in class bringing an increased attacking output.

Barnsley are outclassed, but under 3.5 goals looks a solid wager.

Special of the Day – Juventus to beat Cremonese, Genoa to beat Cagliari and PSG to beat Paris FC treble @ 37/20

Juventus have taken 13 points from their last five Serie A matches and the in-form Old Lady have surged back into the title race. Luciano Spalletti’s men shouldn’t have any issues beating a Cremonese side, who have won only three of their last 17 games.

Genoa dug in to pick up an excellent point following a 1-1 draw at high-flying Milan last time out and the Griffin can go one better by beating Cagliari. The Islanders have won only two of their last 16 games and Fabio Pisacane’s men are being dragged into a relegation battle.

PSG met Paris FC in the French Cup and Luis Enrique’s side have won six of their last seven Ligue 1 games. The Parisians are finding their stride and they are unlikely to be stopped by their near neighbours.

Longshot of the Day – Over 9.5 corners & Federico Chiesa to score first in Liverpool v Barnsley bet builder @ 9/2

Liverpool failed to strike a single corner when stifled by Arsenal on Thursday night, but prior to the Emirates clash, the Reds hit eight flag kicks against Fulham.

It was eight against Leeds and six in matches with Leeds and Wolves, and while it’s unlikely to be a full strength Liverpool side on Monday night, Arne Slot’s men should put plenty of pressure on the Barnsley goal.

Forwards Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah are unavailable, and with Hugo Ekitike unlikely to start, the central striking role is set to be filled by Federico Chiesa and the Italian is fancied to open the scoring.
