Super Bowl LXI: Date, location, and why Miley Cyrus is the 2027 halftime show favorite

This isn’t just another Super Bowl — it’s a historic first for the NFL.

Scheduled for February 14, 2027, Super Bowl 61 will be the first time the Big Game lands on Valentine’s Day, turning SoFi Stadium into the world’s most expensive date spot.

The 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show: Who will take the stage?
Following Bad Bunny’s historic Spanish-language performance in Santa Clara, which featured high-octane cameos from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, the pressure is on Roc Nation and Apple Music to deliver a Hollywood-caliber spectacle.
With Super Bowl LXI set for Los Angeles, and fittingly falling on Valentine’s Day, the speculation around the halftime show is already heating up. A Hollywood backdrop, a prime-time romantic holiday and the NFL’s biggest stage make for a perfect storm, and sportsbooks are wasting no time getting in on the action.

Here’s how the early odds stack up for who could headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show:
Miley Cyrus (+310)
Cyrus sits as the clear betting favorite, and it’s not hard to see why. Her Flowers era confirmed she has the solo star power and cultural reach to command a global audience. Pair that with her versatility across pop and rock, and potential high-profile collaborators, and she checks nearly every box the NFL looks for.

Cardi B (+440)
Momentum is firmly on Cardi B’s side. After her viral guest appearance alongside Bad Bunny in 2026, many believe it’s only a matter of time before she gets the headlining nod. Her energy, personality and catalog make her a natural fit for a Los Angeles spectacle.
Taylor Swift (+490)
A Valentine’s Day Super Bowl practically writes the narrative itself. Swift’s odds reflect the intrigue: if she’s wrapped up her re-recordings by then, 2027 could line up perfectly for a return to the NFL stage — this time as the main event. A “Love Story” halftime show would be hard to top.
Lil Wayne (+520)
Wayne remains a fan favorite with one of the deepest catalogs in hip-hop history, though a halftime performance in New Orleans, the city where he was born and raised, may ultimately fit the rapper’s profile a bit more naturally.
Justin Bieber (+790)
While not among the favorites, Bieber looms as the safe pop play. His global appeal and hit-heavy resume could deliver the kind of polished, star-driven performance the NFL often gravitates toward — especially for a Los Angeles crowd.
Cyrus currently tops the betting boards for several reasons. Beyond her massive vocal range and rock-star stage presence, she has a cross-generational appeal that hits the NFL’s target demographic perfectly.
From Hannah Montana nostalgia to her rock covers and Flowers chart dominance, she provides the versatility needed for a 13-minute medley.

However, Swift is of course Roger Goodell’s white whale and would be the dream booking for the NFL, especially given her relationship with Travis Kelce. She has reportedly turned down the slot before, but performing at the Super Bowl on Valentine’s Day may be too good to pass up this time around.
What makes Super Bowl LXI different?
For the first time in history, ESPN will host the broadcast, though it will be simulcast on ABC for those without cable. Expect a Disney-fied production with high-tech integration across ESPN+ and Disney+.
Since the game falls on Valentine’s Day, experts expect a massive shift in viewership habits. Instead of traditional wings and beer parties, look for “Super Bowl Date Night” packages to trend.
This marks the second time the $5 billion SoFi Stadium has hosted the event (the first being Super Bowl LVI in 2022). As a home stadium for both the Rams and Chargers, the logistics in Inglewood are already battle-tested.
