The 28-year-old fighter from Sheffield, Yorkshire, signed professional in 2019 with a four-round points win in Nottingham. He quickly developed a taste for winning and had the consistency needed to climb through the ranks.

Thunder has won all 18 of his outings as a prizefighter, claiming 13 wins inside the distance. A 72% knockout average will give his opponent’s coaching staff plenty to think about.

Smith is ranked number two in the UK behind Adam Azim and seventh in the world. Becoming WBC champion would certainly improve both, and Smith knows it’s all-or-nothing in NY.
