Stuttgart vs Bayern predictions and betting tips – A test for Kompany’s crew?

Bayern Munich looked set to drop points last weekend, only for a late rally to bring them victory over St Pauli. Vincent Kompany’s men will be hoping for a more straightforward win this weekend.

Will they get it, or can Stuttgart make life difficult for the Bundesliga title favourites? Here is everything you need to know about Saturday’s game.

Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich predictions

Bayern Munich have breezed past most of their Bundesliga opponents this season, but that was not the case last weekend.

Having lost 3-1 to Arsenal in the Champions League a few days earlier, Bayern fans were shocked to find their team 1-0 down at home to St Pauli with six minutes on the clock.

Raphael Guerreiro restored parity shortly before half-time, but try as they might Bayern could not find the decisive third goal of the game.

Until second-half stoppage time, that is. In the third minute of time added on, Luis Diaz struck to break St Pauli hearts. Soon after, Nicolas Jackson put the icing on the cake by making it 3-1 to Vincent Kompany’s crew.

That scoreline might suggest it was another straightforward triumph for Bayern, but the sequencing of the scoring shows it was anything but.

Of course, the Bavarians could easily have won the game before injury time. They created plenty of chances before then, only to be let down by profligate finishing.

Yet the fact is that Bayern were only a few minutes away from dropping points against a side that had lost eight games in a row ahead of their visit to the Allianz Arena.

In the end, last weekend was a good one for Bayern. RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, their two closest challengers ahead of matchday 12, both slipped up. Leipzig could only manage a 0-0 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach, while Leverkusen went down to a 2-1 home defeat by Borussia Dortmund.

Those results mean Bayern are now eight points clear at the summit of the standings as they prepare to take on Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon.

Kompany, for his part, was pleased to see his team grind out a result. Bayern were tested by St Pauli, but they showed considerable resolve and determination to get over the line.

“It wasn’t easy today,” the former Burnley manager said. “We’ve extended our lead by two points. Such victories are part of a season, it gives us confidence. A huge compliment to the lads, we always carry on. We’ll need the feeling this season.”

Bayern will now be seeking to extend their lead in top spot ahead of the winter break, which begins on December 22. Before then, the champions will face Stuttgart, Mainz and Heidenheim. Nine points is the objective.

Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich betting tips

Bayern Munich will seek to bolster their title chances when they take on Stuttgart this weekend.

More of the same?

Stuttgart finished above Bayern Munich a couple of seasons back, pipping them to second spot in the season that Bayer Leverkusen won the title.

They then dropped to ninth last term, but Stuttgart are in the European spots as they prepare to take on Bayern.

Sebastian Hoeness’s side have won only one of their last four games, so they are not arriving into this game in top form.

Bayern should have too much quality for Stuttgart, so an away win is an obvious pick. Combine it with over 2.5 goals – there have been at least three strikes in each of Bayern’s 12 Bundesliga matches in 2025/26.

Bayern to breeze through

By their high standards, Bayern Munich were slow out of the blocks against St Pauli last weekend.

Bayern conceded early and then struggled to break down St Pauli’s low block, despite having 81 percent possession in the first half.

They should have more success in the opening period against Stuttgart, provided they do not go behind early again.

Bayern have been ahead at half-time in eight of their 12 matches up to now, a record that only Borussia Dortmund can match. We expect Kompany’s men to hold a lead at the interval.

Kane to strike again

Harry Kane is on a goal drought: he has not scored in either of his last two appearances for Bayern Munich.

The England international is bound to get his name on the scoresheet again soon, and we like his chances of doing so when Bayern face Stuttgart on matchday 13 of the Bundesliga campaign.

Kane’s record speaks for itself. The former Tottenham Hotspur has made the net bulge 24 times in 20 games in all competitions this term.

Given the array of attacking quality at Bayern’s disposal, it is not as if Stuttgart can focus their full attention on Kane. That will work to the striker’s advantage.
