Steelers’ Jalen Ramsey pops up on Christmas Day injury report
The Pittsburgh Steelers are so close to the playoffs they can taste it. If they can beat the Cleveland Browns in Week 17 or the Baltimore Ravens lose to the Green Bay Packers, Mike Tomlin’s team will win the AFC North crown.
TJ Watt (lung), Nick Herbig (hamstring) and James Pierre (calf) were limited in practice again today.

The Steelers (9-6) have significant late-season momentum, having won their last 3 games. They have a 2-game lead over the second-place Ravens (7-8). As the Steelers prepare for the last-place Browns (3-12), they are not coming off a full-participation session in Thursday’s Christmas Day practice. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey did not participate at all due to illness, while edge rusher T.J. Watt (lung), linebacker Nick Herbig (hamstring) and cornerback James Pierre (calf) were all limited.
Watt has missed the last 2 games with a partially collapsed lung, but he has been making progress and his return in this game would be a huge move for the Steelers defense. However, if Ramsey is unable to play or is less than 100 percent, it could give the Browns and rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders a lift.
Still, the Steelers should have a major advantage in this game at the quarterback position as Aaron Rodgers is playing his best football of the season.
Rodgers has been hot during Steelers’ 3-game winning streak
The Steelers had been struggling in the middle of the season, but they have taken charge in the AFC North with their victories over the Ravens, Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions. Rodgers has thrown 7 TD passes during the winning streak, and he appears to be playing with confidence and leadership.
He has gotten a big lift from running back Kenneth Gainwell, who has demonstrated he can get the job done running the football and as a receiver. Gainwell has rushed for 501 yards and 4 TDs and he has also caught 62 passes for 410 yards and 3 TDs.
The Steelers will need Gainwell and tight end Pat Friermuth to have big games since top Steeler wideout DK Metcalf has been suspended for 2 games as a result of a combative interaction with a fan.
