With the Pittsburgh Steelers’ season in jeopardy ahead of a crucial clash against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, there is also talk about what the future holds for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After the Steelers lost to the Browns last weekend, there could be a scenario where the team is sent home and unable to make the playoffs, putting Rodgers’ career in the forefront.

Rodgers would be asked about the drive he has for the upcoming game and the many scenarios that can happen after the season, with him emphasizing his age and the one-year contract he’s currently in. Plus, would speak about the potential opportunities there could be next season.

“Listen, I mean, I’m thinking about this week,” Rodgers said, via Brooke Pryor. “But obviously, I’m 42 years old, and I’m on a one-year deal, so you know what the situation is. Whenever the season ends, I’ll be a free agent. So that’ll give me a lot of options if I still want to play. I mean, not a lot of options, but there’ll be options, I would think, maybe one or two if I decide I still want to play. But I’ve enjoyed this experience, and everybody in Pittsburgh has been fantastic to me on and off the field. And it’s really what I was hoping for, for this experience, it’s been even better than I was hoping for.”

With rumors around the Steelers, another whose future has been speculated is long-time head coach Mike Tomlin, who was asked about Sunday being potentially Rodgers’ final game. He would say that whatever Rodgers decided, he’s “committed to making sure” that it isn’t the last game, since the team could win the AFC North with a victory Sunday.

“I don’t know that I’ve taken time to ponder that,” Tomlin said, reportedly this week, via On3 Sports. “I’m just committed to making sure that it’s not. He’s certainly been an awesome contributor to our efforts, not only from a talent perspective and an experience perspective, but just his professionalism, his relationship with the game, his love for his teammates, and his willingness to help them grow and get better and gain a better understanding each and every day has been cool to be part of.”

It remains to be seen what Rodgers decides, but he looks to extend Pittsburgh’s season.
