‘Signing of the season’ – Man City told to sign legendary midfielder who Arsenal ‘don’t need’ ahead of Premier League title battle
Man City should make a move to sign N’Golo Kante to bolster their Premier League title chances.
That’s the view of former Premier League striker Dean Saunders, who believes he’d be a statement signing and a game changer in their battle for top spot.

Arsenal were the team who held the No.1 position in the division on Christmas Day – a vital milestone in the calendar.
However, unlike most teams, the Gunners seem unable to convert that achievement into silverware.
On four occasions they have reached the top of the table on December 25 and not once have they won the title that season.
They had looked like they were running away with this season’s title. However, a dip in form has seen both Man City and Aston Villa creep back into contention.
The former sit just two points behind Arsenal and have won the same number of games this season (12), while City have scored ten more goals.
As the January transfer window edges closer, the former Villa star was asked to talk about potential deals.
And he insists the Al Ittihad star could turn the Premier League season on its head.
“This could be the signing of the season,” he told The Sports Breakfast. “This is a big statement. I think Kante is available.
“I think he’s been there long enough, I think he’s got to stay there to avoid paying tax for a certain amount. I think he’s available.
“He could play for any team in the world. That position he plays in, defensive midfield, thinks like a defender, covers the ground.

“What is he, 34? He should be still flying around the pitch, he wouldn’t have lost his pace yet. Great attitude.
“He could play in the middle of midfield for Man City.
“One-year contract, sign him for a year, just in case his legs have gone. But you don’t have to run that much in that position.
“He would fit into any team in the Premier League, right now.”
“I mean, Arsenal don’t need him, I suppose,” he added.
“They’ve got Martin Zubimendi, they could play Declan Rice there if they have to.

“But all the other teams in the league, I would sign him tomorrow. I think he’s probably the best since Claude Makelele, probably, playing in that position. And Rodri, obviously.”
Kante left Chelsea for the Saudi Pro League on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
The two-time Premier League winner, who has also won the Europa League and Champions League, has a title to his name already with his current side.
Kante was a key figure in France’s 2018 World Cup win and will be in the hunt for a spot in their squad for the 2026 tournament in United States, Canada, and Mexico.
