Russell Wilson makes retirement decision after pursuing media career with CBS Sports
Russell Wilson is going nowhere.
The quarterback endured a rough season with the New York Giants, losing his starting job to rookie Jaxson Dart before falling behind Jameis Winston in the pecking order.

His previous spell after a high-profile trade to the Denver Broncos was also a disaster, but the 37-year-old is determined to play on when his one-year deal expires.
“I’m not blinking. I know what I’m capable of,” Wilson told reporters.
The Super Bowl XLVIII champion did enjoy some good times in New York, rolling back the years to his gunslinging Seattle Seahawks days with 450 passing yards and three touchdowns in a thrilling 40-37 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
“I think I showed that in Dallas and I want to be able to do that again,” he continued. “Just be ready to rock and roll. Be as ready as possible and play ball.”
Wilson claimed that he suffered a grade II hamstring tear in the final play of Friday practice before that game and had secret treatment at the Dallas Mavericks‘ facility.
How much has Russell Wilson made in the NFL?
With $315 million in career earnings, the signal-caller and popstar wife Ciara do not need him to sign another contract.
The man who branded himself as Mr Unlimited looked the exact opposite in a Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs that began the Dart era in New York.
Wilson will likely be fighting for a backup or bridge quarterback role.
He does have an alternative route back into employment, having made an appearance on CBS Sports during the Giants’ bye week.
With Tom Brady and Philip Rivers playing well into their 40s, Wilson is keen to join his fellow veteran QBs.

“I definitely wanna play until my mid-40s,” the then-Seahawks star said in 2017.
“I think it’s something that I’ve been very passionate about, and taking care of my health and really trying to dive into the longevity now.
“I’m constantly getting work and getting stretched so that way my body and be super mobile and can maneuver really well.
“That’s really key to feel fresh every day. I have always have had a big dream of playing for a long time. So that’s always key for me.”
Wilson may still be determined to take to the field, but with just 32 NFL teams, there are not many spaces up for grabs.
