Robin Uthappa, Chris Gayle, Jacques Kallis confirm participation in Legends Pro T20 League
The inaugural edition of the Legends Pro T20 League continues in Goa, witnessing the newest names added to the roster, including Robin Uthappa, Chris Gayle, and Jacques Kallis, along with Ambati Rayudu and Stuart Binny. Their entry adds to the growing list of star players returning to the field.
Scheduled to be played from January 26 to February 4, 2026, at the newly built 1919 Sportz Cricket Stadium in Goa, the Legends Pro T20 League features six franchise teams and a total lineup of 90 legendary players. The league has already announced several headline participants, such as Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Dale Steyn, Shane Watson, Shaun Marsh, Amit Mishra, Vinay Kumar, and Monty Panesar, among others, along with Michael Clarke serving as league commissioner. Gayle opened up about reuniting with players he has shared rivalries and friendships with over the years.
"Some of my best cricket memories involve the guys who will be playing for the league I've played against Kallis when getting past him felt impossible, talked batting rhythm with Uthappa, and taken more Rayudu banter than I can count. And seeing names like Dhawan or Watson pop up again adds to that feeling. Coming back together brings back the jokes, the competitiveness, the respect. The Legends Pro T20 League is giving us that chance," Gayle said.
I'm genuinely looking forward to: Robin Uthappa
Meanwhile, Kallis shared that he looks forward to enjoying batting again. He also praised the professionalism and vision Clarke brings as commissioner.
"I'm genuinely excited to pick it up again that simple rhythm of hitting balls, finding timing, feeling like a player once more. And seeing Michael Clarke step in as league commissioner adds a fresh energy. He's always had a sharp cricketing mind, and his new role brings real professionalism and vision to the whole setup. It just makes you look forward even more to getting back out there and enjoying the game with familiar faces," he said.
Furthermore, Uthappa spoke about his conversations with Dinesh Karthik about finishing games. He revealed he is looking forward to the tournament and how the league gives players a chance to relive bonds without the pressure of franchise cricket.
"With Dinesh Karthik, I've had plenty of chats about finishing games, and having played with him since my Under-19 days, there's a natural camaraderie that comes from all those years together. Shaun Marsh was one of those guys who made batting look effortless. Getting to experience this again without the pressure of franchise standings is something I'm genuinely looking forward to. It feels like picking up old cricketing friendships right where we left them."
With the addition of players like Uthappa, Kallis, and Gayle, the league further confirms the participation of Dinesh Karthik, Shaun Marsh, Amit Mishra, Vinay Kumar, and Monty Panesar.
