Report: Brooks Koepka officially applies for PGA Tour reinstatement

Brooks Koepka reportedly wants back on the PGA Tour.

It was announced a few weeks ago that Koepka, a five-time major championship winner, and LIV Golf were officially parting ways ahead of the 2026 season. The natural question from everyone was what the future held for Koepka given the overall climate and ecosystem surrounding professional golf these days.

While this whole frontier is hardly new territory for professional golf now, there is no real precedent for something of this magnitude relative to a hypothetical return to the PGA Tour for Koepka. It would mark a significant development if he were able to get back, particularly if it were to happen at any point in 2026, and a potential pathway for others who left for LIV golf at various points.

For what it’s worth there does appear to be a distinction surrounding Koepka that doesn’t pertain to others. Unlike some players who left for LIV, Koepka was never outright suspended by the PGA Tour. The Athletic’s Gabby Herzig noted this well in reporting that Koepka never reapplied for membership ahead of 2022-2023.

The difference, according to sources with knowledge of the situation, is that Koepka did not resign from the PGA Tour. He simply didn’t reapply for membership for the 2022-23 season. Now that Koepka has reapplied for membership, the PGA Tour needs to decide on disciplinary action. If the one-year suspension strategy is implemented, then Koepka would be eligible to return by August.

Time will tell of Koepka is back on Tour within that timeframe. He will presumably tee it up in the majors, but again this is a newer sort of twist on these kinds of stories.

We will see.
