Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad predictions and betting tips – Blancos right in title mix

Real Madrid took care of business last weekend, beating Valencia 2-0 to remain a point behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga. Despite the turbulence of the last couple of months, Madrid are still in the title conversation.

In fact, they would go top with a victory over Real Sociedad, at least temporarily. Will Madrid triumph as expected, or might there be a surprise in store?

Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad predictions

Try as they might, Barcelona just cannot seem to shake off Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.

The Blaugrana lost the first Clasico of the campaign in October, but they responded to that setback in the perfect way.

Hansi Flick’s side proceeded to win their next nine league outings, and although that streak was ended before Barcelona could reach double figures, they have triumphed in each of their last three matches since a 2-1 loss to Real Sociedad last month.

In other words, Barcelona have won 12 out of their last 13 games in La Liga. You cannot ask for much more than that without being wholly unrealistic.

During that time, it has not exactly been smooth sailing at Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso survived as the club’s manager for a few weeks after the rumours of his imminent departure began, but by December a parting of the ways was inevitable.

The axe eventually fell on January 12, with Alvaro Arbeloa stepping up as his replacement. Early defeats in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League represented a baptism of fire for the former Real Madrid B head coach.

And yet despite all the chaos at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and Barcelona’s magnificent record over the last three months, Madrid are right in the title mix.

Indeed, a victory over Real Sociedad this weekend would send them back to the summit of the standings for the first time since November.

Barcelona are not in action until a clash with Girona on Monday night. Although they are strong favourites to win that game, temporarily falling behind the club’s arch-rivals would increase the pressure on Flick and his players.

Arbeloa may have overseen those defeats by Albacete (Copa del Rey) and Benfica (Champions League), but he boasts a 100 percent record in La Liga.

Including the tail end of Alonso’s spell in the dugout, the Blancos have won each of their last seven top-tier tussles, which gives them a better record than any other team in the division since the middle of December.

Madrid had to dig deep last time out, but there were plenty of positives to take from their 2-0 defeat of Valencia at the Estadio de Mestalla.

“We knew where we were coming,” Arbeloa said afterwards. “The victory came from solidity, commitment, and playing a very serious match. I think we were deserved winners.”

Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad betting tips

Real Madrid will do battle with Real Sociedad in an important La Liga game this weekend.

Madrid to win again

If Real Madrid and Barcelona are first and second in the La Liga form table, Real Sociedad are third.

They are the only Spanish team to have inflicted defeat on Barca since October, but that was not a one-off.

In all, la Real have won four of their last five games and gone unbeaten in their last seven. If we include the Copa del Rey, they are 10 matches without defeat.

That run is likely to end on Saturday, however. Real Madrid are growing in confidence again and they have still only lost one domestic home game all season.

With minimal value to be had in backing a straightforward Madrid victory, pair it with over 2.5 goals, which has paid out in seven of their last 10 contests in all competitions.

Real Sociedad can strike

Real Sociedad’s recent record shows they should not be taken lightly.

They might not be in the top seven but they are a team transformed under Pellegrino Matarazzo, who took over just before Christmas.

Real Sociedad have scored in every fixture they have contested with Matarazzo on the sideline.

Real Madrid turned in a strong defensive display against Valencia last time out, but their backline will be put under pressure here. Goals at both ends is a smart choice.

Vinicius triumphant return?

inicius Junior missed out on the victory over Valencia through suspension, but he is available again this weekend.

Given the potential for this match to be a banana skin for Real Madrid, the Brazil international is likely to go straight back into the starting XI.

By his high standards this has been a difficult season for Vinicius, who could leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Before then, the forward will be determined to end the club campaign with a bang ahead of World Cup 2026.

Vinicius scored in his last appearance and he can do so again here.
