Rangers’ Corey Seager plan amid back injury concern will catch fans’ attention
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is currently dealing with a back injury concern. On Friday, Seager was not in the lineup against the Houston Astros. It seemed as if Seager was being given a day off because of his 0-27 slump at the plate. However, it was reported on Saturday that Seager was dealing with back spasms. After not playing on Saturday or Sunday either, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com shared a report on the star shortstop.
“Skip (Schumaker) said Corey Seager is going to go back to DFW to get further testing with his back spasms. He won’t play the first day in Colorado. TBD on further availability and potential injured list stint,” Landry reported.
The Rangers are closely monitoring Seager’s injury. It remains to be seen if a stint on the injured list will be required.
Seager endured ups and downs from a performance standpoint throughout the first portion of the 2026 MLB season. The 32-year-old is hitting just .179/.286/.353 across 42 games played. He does have seven home runs and six doubles, but Seager is clearly not swinging the bat well overall.
The Rangers will continue to monitor and provide updates on Corey Seager’s injury status as they are made available.
Texas earned an 8-0 victory on Sunday against the Houston Astros. The Astros still earned a 2-1 series victory, however. The Rangers are just 22-24, but they are still in second place in the American League West standings. Texas trails the Athletics by only one game as of this story’s writing.
The Rangers’ next game is scheduled for Monday night against the Colorado Rockies at 8:40 PM EST.
