‘Pure chaos’ – Philadelphia 76ers rising star stuns Warriors at the buzzer in wild ending
V. J. Edgecombe has arrived.
The 76ers rookie has started strong, but Thursday night delivered the defining moment of his young career so far.
Trailing by one with 7.8 seconds left on the clock, Edgecombe inbounded the ball to Tyrese Maxey.
The All-Star dribbled around before hoisting a highly contested long two-pointer, which came up short and hit nothing but air.
Luckily for Maxey and all of Philadelphia, Edgecombe plucked the ball out of the air and put it back through the basket to give the 76ers the lead.
With only 0.9 seconds left on the clock, Buddy Hield heaved the ball down the court to a streaking De’Anthony Melton, who attempted a quick layup for the win.
However, Maxey hustled back and sealed the game with a huge block.
Sixers win 99-98 and the celebration was on in Philadelphia.
“Sixers pulling off miracles,” one fan posted on X.
“That finish was pure chaos,” another fan chimed in.
