PDC Daily Dose: Luke Littler drops first hint on how he will spend record-breaking £1million prize and reveals ‘only thing missing’ from perfect World Championship run

A curtain has been brought down on the latest PDC World Championship, but it is the same story again.

Luke Littler is the new prodigal son of darts, and the 18-year-old was masterful again in a on stage at Ally Pally.

‘The Nuke’ was breathtaking and unplayable under the lights, as he left Gian Van Veen blown away with a stunning 7-1 blow-out.

It is to round off yet another dominant year for Littler on the PDC tour, and sees him scoop the sport’s first ever £1 million prize.

The sky seems the limit for Littler, who is now a back-to-back champion, and sees him match a feat only completed by the likes of Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson.

There is no stopping the sport’s seismic new arrival, who after just two full years on tour, is setting records and history as a teenager.

It has been a fantastic year of action topped by headline act Littler, who closed a show of tungsten brilliance from 128 players under the extended format.

The oche has been lit up by a number of geniuses, but ultimately it was Littler who got the job done yet again, and crushed everyone in his wake.

On talkSPORT.com’s final instalment of PDC Daily Dose, we thank you for reading, and bring you all our exclusive reaction from the man himself to his phenomenal feat and victory.

£1 million splurge

Littler is £1 million richer, the first in darting history to have ever picked up a seven-figure pay packet from one tournament.

Now the world is his oyster, and naturally the question is, what would a teenage sensation spend his money on?

He isn’t sure yet, but believes his girlfriend Faith Millar could well receive a lavish gift.

“No idea. I couldn’t think off anything of the top of my head. Obviously I’ve only been driving for two months.”

When asked by talkSPORT’s Ian Dantner whether Millar might be able to conjure up an idea of how to spend the seven figures, Littler replied: “She can think of something, I can definitely treat her.

“I’ve only been driving for two or three months now, so can’t be changing cars just yet.

“Get a year on the insurance and then we can have a look at what’s next.”

Nuke the field

After his latest success, in the mentality of a true winner, Littler isn’t looking to hold his feet on the oche.

It will once again be a busy schedule as he looks to chase down major titles he is missing from his collection, while managing his hectic next stages.

Littler isn’t happy at two, he wants it all and wants to win titles he hasn’t yet banked throughout the year[/caption]

But with a frightening level of dominance again this year, he doesn’t want to let up, and plans to blow away his opposition again from this month onwards.

He continued to talkSPORT.com: “We’ll have five, six days off then back on the road, back on a flight.

“Bahrain, I want to go and win that title once again. I want to set my marker and try and win the first Saudi Arabia world series.”

A perfect night or was it?

Littler has the highest of standards, but he or no player was able to scoop the nine-darter bonus for a perfect leg during the tournament.

On multiple occasions, he came close, but to no avail, and he was disappointed with the absence of darting’s toughest feat.

He concluded: “I think you just take it in all the time and as the game goes on. The chants, the 180s.

“Obviously, you go off 180, you hit a small 20 and they’re not happy. Some of them want £60,000, but it didn’t happen tonight.

“I really wanted that nine-darter, that was the only thing missing.”

Luke-ing formidable

Aside from Littler’s reaction, he will now know that he has seemingly an unassailable lead at the pinnacle of darts.

The Warrington native has extended his lead at the top of the PDC Order of Merit to a seemingly insurmountable gap.

World No.2 Luke Humphries finds himself almost £1.5 million behind Littler, who is topping the tree with £2,770,500.

‘Cool Hand’ is going to need a seriously impressive 2026 to even come close to ‘The Nuke’, sitting far behind him with £1,172,000.

The rankings make it clear that Littler’s dominance is unprecedented, and should he continue to widen the gap, who will be able to stop him?
