OnlyFans backed Winter Olympian targeting rare history at LA 2028 Games despite gruesome injury setback

Alexandra Ianculescu is targeting something that only a handful of athletes have done before her.

The Romanian-Canadian speed skater made her name on the ice, competing for her European homeland at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

She raced in the women’s 500m final that year, and has also competed at numerous World Cup competitions and Sprint Championship events, often crossing paths with the likes of recently-crowned Olympic gold medallist Jutta Leerdam.

But Ianculescu, who is one of multiple OnlyFans backed athletes at the Milano Cortina Games, has talents that extend far beyond the ice.

In fact, they extend even further than the Winter Olympics as a whole.

Come 2028, Ianculescu hopes to be competing in a different kind of arena, at the Summer Games.

Winter Olympian has dreams of becoming Summer Games athlete

Over the past century, only 138 athletes have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

The most recent name to do so was German sprinter and bobsledder Alexandra Burghardt.

She competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, and the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.

Burghardt was also just the seventh athlete — and fourth woman — to win Olympic medals in both a summer and winter sport.

While Ianculescu’s dreams of becoming a duel medal winner have passed — she will be commentating in Milano Cortina this year, rather than competing — the 34-year-old can still achieve something only few have done before.

She has targeted the Canadian cycling team, and hopes to take her speedy talents to the velodrome in Los Angeles, where the mechanics of riding the bike are surprisingly similar to that of speed skating.

“I keep joking that because of skating I can only turn left — which is why I love racing in the velodrome because that’s literally how my brain functions,” Ianculescu exclusively told talkSPORT.

“I can only go that way!”

Ianculescu’s big dream, though, won’t be easy.

Not only is she aiming to be one of the few people in modern history to compete at the Summer and Winter Olympics, she will also have to do so after bouncing back from a gruesome injury.

“I did have a bad crash where I broke my coccyx this summer,” Ianculescu explained.

“I couldn’t walk for two months, so it’s gonna be a slower comeback now.

“I know the Olympics are in two years. I’m not done. It’s just gonna be that much harder now to come back and get back into it.

“I will be starting in March, once I’m done with the Winter Olympics, and I have an amazing team to come back to.

“So will I be there (at LA 2028)? Yes, I will. In what capacity and how? We’ll see how it all develops. It’ll be for Canada, at least that’s my plan.

“I’m super proud to be Canadian and that’s my ultimate dream. I will give everything I can to get there. I can’t wait.

“I’m going to race this year anyway so I’ll start as soon as I know that my legs are functioning without any pain.

“Anything’s possible. Honestly, two years is more than enough time.”

Alexandra Ianculescu drawing inspiration from Olympic greats

Despite a rough injury setback, Ianculescu will not be deterred in her double Olympic dream.

She has strong backing from OnlyFans, and the platform is helping to fund her push for LA 2028.

Ianculescu is also an athlete who has battled the odds before, and she draws inspiration from a Canadian great, who is the only person ever to have won multiple medals at both the Summer and Winter Games.

“I’ve wanted to be like Clara Hughes,” Ianculescu revealed.

“She went for speed skating and cycling. I grew up skating and watching Clara Hughes. I know that if someone does it, anything’s doable.

“I achieved my Winter Olympic dreams with Romania, where I had zero support and was literally working three jobs.

“With skating and cycling, why not? I was going to school full-time and I got to the (Winter) Olympics.

“Now, with cycling, I can actually afford to pay for my training, my rehab and my equipment — thanks to OnlyFans anything’s possible.

“So let’s go.”
