Ola Aina releases statement after viral clip about him ‘chatting up’ footballer’s girlfriend

Ola Aina has spoken out after he claimed on TV that he is in a ‘talking stage’ with another footballer’s girlfriend.

The Nottingham Forest defender went viral after a clip emerged of him on Channel 4.0’s Savage Kids & Agony Aunties.

On the show, Aina sought advice from a group of older adults and children over his ‘dilemma’.

Revealing his problem, the 29-year-old said: “My dilemma is I’m in the talking stage with another baller’s girl.”

His response left the panel stunned, before he was asked which team the other footballer played for.

To this, Aina responded: “Can’t disclose that one”, before revealing they had been speaking for “a few weeks”.

The ex-Chelsea man continued to face questions from the ‘aunties’ and children, before saying of the girl in question: “I know she likes me back.”

One of the panel’s younger members then told Aina that the girl was “only there for your money,” due to her allegedly speaking to two footballers.

The full-back even aimed a savage dig at his supposed love rival, by claiming he could ‘easily’ beat him in a one-vs-one.

After the panel argued over Aina’s situation whilst putting forward their solution, the Forest star ultimately sided with the aunties’ advice to ‘own up’ to his fellow footballer.

‘Entirely scripted’

The clip of Aina quickly began to gather attention online, prompting Aina to share his side of the story on social media.

And the Nigeria international has since cleared the air, as he revealed that the short video had been ‘entirely scripted and created for entertainment’.

He wrote on his Snapchat story: “To everyone that’s wondering. I wanna be clear with something. The show that is circulating was entirely scripted and created for entertainment.

“(Please focus) The storyline does not reflect my life, my relationships, or anyone connected to me.

“(Please focus) It is not rooted in reality in any way.

“I understand that clips can take on a life of their own, especially online, but I hope people can recognise this for what it is, just some content.

“(Please focus) I take pride in who I am on and off the pitch, and I would never disrespect anyone like that. (Please let’s be concentrated).”

Aina has had plenty of time away from football this season, with a hamstring injury seeing him miss the vast majority of Forest’s games.

He has made just three appearances in the Premier League this season, the last of which came on August 31.

The defender played the entirety of a 3-0 loss at home to West Ham in August back when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge.

Since then, he has been forced to watch on as Forest appointed and later sacked Ange Postecoglou as head coach, while he will be targeting a return under new boss Sean Dyche.

Aina is expected to be back in action at the start of 2026, although it remains to be seen if he will be fit in time for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which starts at the end of December.
