  • Anthony Gordon to score or assist The Newcastle talisman came off the bench to bag a goal and an assist in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Bournemouth, also scoring his penalty in the shoot out
  • Phil Foden to have a shot on target Only Erling Haaland is averaging more shots per game in the Premier League for Man City than the England playmaker
  • Joelinton to be carded The Newcastle midfielder has received more yellow cards than any other player on either team this season, having accrued eight already this campaign, including two in his last three league outings
  • Manchester City to take 5+ corners Pep Guardiola’s side are averaging six corners per game in the Premier League this season

Manchester City will make the trip to Tyneside for tonight’s Carabao Cup semi final first leg in confident mood having got back to winning ways in the most emphatic of fashions on Saturday afternoon with a 10-1 win over Exeter in the FA Cup.

The victory for Pep Guardiola’s side ended a three match winless run and also extended their current unbeaten run to 12 matches in all competitions.

The Cityzens have won four of their last five matches away from home, and currently sit second in the Premier League table, six points behind league leaders Arsenal but 10 points clear of fifth-placed Brentford in the hunt for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Man City are the Carabao Cup’s second most successful team of all time having lifted the trophy on eight occasions, and the last six times the club have reached the semi final stage, they’ve gone on to lift the trophy.

Newcastle have enjoyed an upturn in form in recent weeks which has seen them make considerable ground in the Premier League table, sat down in 14th after their Boxing Day defeat to Manchester United, but three consecutive victories since has seen them climb up to sixth.

Eddie Howe’s side made it four wins out of four on Saturday afternoon with a penalty shoot-out victory over Bournemouth in the FA Cup, keeping them unbeaten at home since September, a run spanning 13 matches, of which they’ve won 11.

The Magpies are the defending champions of the Carabao Cup, after defeating Liverpool in last season’s final to win their first piece of domestic silverware in 70 years, and will not be letting go of the trophy lightly.

Excluding penalty shoot-outs, the Tyneside club have not lost a Carabao Cup match since the 2023 final.

Newcastle have won only one of their last five matches against Manchester City, though that sole victory did come on their most recent meeting, around six weeks ago in a home Premier League clash.

The Magpies also got the better the last time the two sides met in this competition, Alexander Isak scoring the only goal of the game at St James’ Park in the third round a couple of seasons ago.
