  • FAIRYHOUSE
    5.00: Better Times Ahead 20/1 & Kiss Will 14/1 (1pt each)

Better Times Ahead

Had a little hurdle contest in March to potentially just keep him prepped for this chase, having last run over fences in January at Gowran Park.

Has won 2-2 in his last two runs at Fairyhouse including when winning the Porterstown by a neck over 3m6f, so this trip will of course suit.

He’s an improving horse owned by JP McManus and trained by Robert Tyner who seems to have become rejuvenated since returning to action at the start of the season.

Narrowly missed out on heavy ground at Gowran in the Grade 3 Thyestes Handicap Chase and is met with a 5lb rise, further eclipsing his hurdle mark.

With as many as 30 runners in the final field, it’s best to have a couple of punts in this race, and another that appeals is Kiss Will.

The Willie Mullins-trained horse was a decent 5th in the Jack Richards and very dangerously unexposed, not just over fences but in general.

A lightly raced six-year-old who could be just starting big things over fences and will have gained a lot from the Cheltenham Festival run and would have much preferred softer ground, yet still ran on well.
