Marc Guehi next club odds: Man City lead Arsenal and Liverpool in race for England star

England defender Marc Guehi is once again being heavily linked to a Crystal Palace exit in the current transfer window, with Manchester City currently leading the race.

The Crystal Palace defender has only six months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and has been the subject of a lot of transfer speculation over the last few transfer windows.

The 25-year-old has made 188 appearances for Crystal Palace since signing from Chelsea back in 2021 for £20m, and played a crucial role in the club’s historic FA Cup triumph last season, playing every minute and captaining every game until being forced off injured an hour into the final.

The England star has announced he will not be playing for Crystal Palace next season, leaving the current transfer window as the south London club’s final opportunity to receive a transfer fee for the centre back before he leaves for free in the summer.

Manchester City are currently deemed to be the favourites to sign the Eagles’ captain this winter, with Pep Guardiola’s side currently in the midst of something of a centre back injury crisis, with Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias and John Stones all set for a spell on the sidelines.

The injuries leaves 21-year-old Abdukodir Khusanov, Nathan Ake and a 20-year-old Max Alleyne, recently recalled from his loan spell at Watford, as the club’s only options in the centre of defence, which could force their hand at recruiting in that position this month.

Arsenal have emerged as being among the chasing pack in the race to sign Guehi from Crystal Palace this winter, with talkSPORT BET pricing the north London side at 2/1 to secure his signature in the current transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side appear to be stacked in the centre back position, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes deemed by many to be the best defensive partnership in the league, and also acquired Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera only last summer.

The Gunners also have the likes of Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White who can seamlessly transition from full back into the heart of defence, but it hasn’t stopped the side putting their hat in the ring to fight for the current Crystal Palace captain this month.

Liverpool have long been admirers of Guehi and reportedly came within a whisker of signing the England international last summer, only to have the deal fall through on deadline day due to Palace being unable to find a replacement in time.

Arne Slot’s side had been favourites to sign the 25-year-old either in January or this summer but have since fallen to third in the race at 3/1 to secure Guehi’s services this month.

A return to Chelsea, the club the Ivorian-born England star joined as a 7-year-old has also been mooted, but re-joining the west London side, whom he represented on two occasions, both in the Carabao Cup, is currently priced at 8/1.
