League One clash stopped as fan clashes with opposition staff
A League One game had to be temporarily stopped after a Stockport County fan clashed with and member of Huddersfield’s backroom staff.
Stockport ran out 1-0 winners in a feisty battle between the two promotion-chasing sides at Edgeley Park on Saturday.

With only goal difference separating the top six teams before kick-off, the Hatters clinched a huge three points thanks to a 96th-minute winner from Benony Breki Andresson.
Victory saw Dave Challinor’s side climb to fourth in the League One table, overtaking the Terriers in the process.
Fans and staff come to blows
While Stockport enjoyed an afternoon of progress on the pitch, there was a rather hairy moment away from it.
Official pictures from the third tier encounter appear to show an altercation between a Stockport fan and a member of Huddersfield‘s backroom staff.
In the images, the member of staff can be seen face-to-face with a home fan in what looks to be a furious confrontation.
The Huddersfield employee was identified on social media as kit man Andy Brook, who appeared to charge into the stands at Edgeley Park to confront the supporter.
Another picture shows a match official stepping in to calm things down, while Terriers boss Lee Grant watches on in the background.
The unsavoury scene caused the game to be halted briefly, while a reporter at the ground revealed the flare-up stemmed from a supporter taking aim at injured Huddersfield man Murray Wallace in the second half.
Journalist Dom Howson wrote on X: “Wallace exchanges some words with a Stockport fan after the supporter threw some water at him after he went down under a heavy challenge from Fevrier.
“Looks like the fan has been told to leave the stadium.”

No mention of the altercation was made by either team in their match reports, but images clearly show tempers flaring in the stands.
While the game soon got back underway, the mood on the Huddersfield bench won’t have improved much afterwards.
With Stockport grabbing a late winner, the away fans vented their frustration at manager Grant at full-time.
According to reports from inside the ground, the Terriers boss was booed by his own supporters as he went over to clap them.
Despite sitting fifth in League One, fans have taken issue with Grant’s style of play, as Huddersfield target an immediate return to the Championship after relegation last term.
The Yorkshire outfit are six points adrift of Lincoln City in the second automatic promotion spot, and ten behind leaders Cardiff.
Under-fire Grant questions team belief
Grant voiced his frustrations with the result at full-time, as he claimed Huddersfield lacked conviction to their game.
He said: “I don’t think we showed enough confidence and self-belief, individually or collectively.
“Once they step across that line, they have to find the collective self-belief and energy to take the ball and impose themselves on what was always going to be a really tough challenge. We’re more than capable.
“So my disappointment is twofold – one, that we don’t see the game out as we should, and we should be talking here about a well-fought and hard-earned clean sheet.
“Then of course, we need to be better with the ball, which has been the same message for the past two weeks now.”
