Lane Kiffin’s savage Carson Beck comment comes back to bite him as $4.3m star fires Miami into CFP final

Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes are going to the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Ranked as the 10 seed, the Hurricanes took down the six-seed Ole Miss Rebels in the Fiesta Bowl with a 31-27 victory.

In a college football classic, with Ole Miss having rallied to take a 27-24 lead with three minutes of regulation remaining, Beck orchestrated a 15-play, 75-yard touchdown drive.

The Miami quarterback finished off the drive scrambling for the three-yard rushing score with just 18 seconds remaining in the contest.

It was a tense ending, with Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss connecting on two long passes to get Ole Miss to the Canes 35-yard line, but his final pass as time expired fell incomplete in the end zone.

All in all, Beck completed 23-of-37 passing for 268 yards for two touchdowns and one interception to see him named the Fiesta Bowl Offensive Most Valuable Player.

Now, Miami has a chance to capture their sixth national championship in program history, and at home at Hard Rock Stadium.

Lane Kiffin trolls Carson Beck

In light of the Hurricanes’ victory, a video resurfaced on social media of former Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin trolling Beck and his NIL value.

During the 2025 Transfer Portal cycle, Kiffin was shocked to learn how much Beck was given by Miami.

“Miami gave him $4.3 million? Did they watch his game against us?” Kiffin joked.

The game in which Kiffin – who is now the head coach of LSU after a long, drawn-out saga – was referring to was when Beck was the quarterback at Georgia and Mississippi handed them a 24-10 defeat in the 2024 season.

However, he – conveniently – forgot to mention his previous meeting with Georgia in 2023, when Beck led the Bulldogs to a 52-17 victory passing for 306 yards and two touchdowns, outplaying now-NFL quarterback Jaxson Dart (10-of-17 passing for 112 yards and an INT).

But it was Beck who once again had the last laugh.

“Stay in your lane, Kiffin,” replied one Hurricanes fan to the resurfaced clip.

“Care to comment now?” replied another.

“This didn’t age well,” replied a third.

After eliminating Kiffin’s former team from the College Football Playoff, this also brings an end to the LSU coach’s unique clause in his contract.

The Tigers agreed to pay Kiffin any Playoff bonus that he would have received had he been able to coach the Rebels through the postseason.

But Beck, who is estimated to own the third-highest NIL valuation in college football behind Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, has prevented Kiffin from earning a $1 million bonus from his former team.

Despite the trolling from Kiffin, the 23-year-old Canes QB knows he made the right decision to enter the Transfer Portal and head to the Vice City.

“It’s been unbelievable. Obviously, almost exactly a year ago I made the decision to come to this university,” Beck said postgame.

“I remember me and Coach [Mario] Cristobal talking on the phone for the first time.

“I was sitting in Jacksonville in my house in my room and I just had a big smile on my fave and he had a big smile on his face.

“And he said, ‘like, ‘let’s get to work’ and I believed in his vision.

“I believed in what he’s been able to build here and add on to the culture of what Miami is. And man, what an unbelievable year.”

The Canes now await their opponent with them set to face the winner of the Peach Bowl between Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza and the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers and the No. 5 Oregon Ducks.
