Lahore Qalandars' all-rounder David Wiese to miss PSL 2026
Lahore Qalandars have officially confirmed that their long-time all-rounder David Wiese will not be part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 owing to unforeseen circumstances and important family commitments. The development brings an end at least temporarily to one of the most enduring player-franchise associations in the leagueâs history.
Wiese has been closely linked with Lahore Qalandars for the past seven seasons, during which he evolved into far more than just a reliable overseas option. A consistent contributor with both bat and ball, the Namibian all-rounder also became a core figure in the teamâs leadership group, offering calmness in pressure situations and guidance to younger players within the squad.
Despite his absence this season, the franchise made it clear that the door remains firmly open for Wieseâs return in future editions of the PSL. Lahore Qalandars expressed full respect for his decision to prioritise family, underlining the values of trust and long-term relationships that have defined their journey.
âDavid has been an integral part of the Lahore Qalandars family and our leadership group for many years. His contributions extend far beyond on-field performances. We fully respect his decision to prioritise his family at this time and look forward to welcoming him back in the coming seasons," Lahore Qalandars owner Sameen Rana said.
Wiese, too, shared an emotional message reflecting on his time with the franchise and the bond he shares with the team and its supporters.
âBeing part of Lahore Qalandars has been more than just cricket itâs been a family. The brotherhood within the team, the positive and supportive environment, and the passion everyone brings every day make this franchise truly special,â he said.
Fondly known as âMurshadâ by fans and teammates alike, Wiese added that the love and respect he has received over the years is something he deeply values.
âIâm proud to have been part of a group that values teamwork, growth, and the spirit of the game, and I look forward to returning and contributing to the teamâs journey in the seasons ahead," he added.
