‘He won’t lose’ – Conor McGregor doesn’t hesitate when predicting Mike Tyson vs Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor is backing Mike Tyson to get the better of Floyd Mayweather if the pair end up locking horns.

Earlier this year, Tyson and Mayweather agreed a deal to face each other in an exhibition bout sometime in Spring 2026.

Tyson, who turns 60 in less than six months, last fought in November 2024 in a losing effort to Jake Paul.

Mayweather, 48, has been out of the ring a similar amount of time, having most recently donned the gloves in August 2024 for a non-scoring contest with John Gotti III.

The exact date and location are yet to be confirmed, while there haven’t been any significant developments since the boxing legends announced the clash in September.

It’s also unclear how they will get around the massive 60lbs weight discrepancy.

Regardless, McGregor remains hopeful that the contest goes ahead, and after spending a night with Tyson at his Black Forge Inn in Dublin this week, ‘Notorious’ is more confident than ever in ‘Iron Mike’s’ chances.

“I’m excited for it,” the dual-weight UFC champion said of Tyson vs Mayweather during an interview with Bloody Elbow.

“Because you know what? Mike looks amazing.

“It’s been seven years since he was last here [in Dublin].

“He was here in 2018, and I met him back then.

“That was seven years ago, and he looks even seven years younger than then, you get me?

“It’s Mike Tyson, man. I’ll tell you what, he won’t lose.

“I hope it goes ahead, he seems confident it’s going ahead, he’s well up for it.”

McGregor is, of course, a former dance partner to Mayweather.

The pair squared off in August 2017 in the final fight of Mayweather’s perfect 50-0 professional career.

The fight grossed a live gate of $55.4million and generated 4.4m pay-per-views, making it the second most commercially successful event in the history of the sport.

Mayweather went on to stop McGregor in the tenth round, with both men pocketing in excess of $100m for their efforts.
