He missed the Three Lions’ 1-0 friendly defeat to Japan at Wembley with a damaged ankle.

Kane had previously been rested for the first of Thomas Tuchel’s two tune-up matches, a 1-1 draw with Uruguay.

His ability in front of goal was missed by England with none of his replacements, Dominic Solanke, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Phil Foden able to truly impress.

Now it’s been confirmed that Kane will miss Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga game with Freiburg with the injury.

He is now hoping he can return to fitness ahead of Tuesday’s enormous Champions League first leg at the Bernabeu.

Kompany told a news conference: “Harry trained well until Sunday, then he felt something in his ankle while with the national team. That will have an impact on tomorrow’s game — he won’t be available.

“Nevertheless, I’m positive about Tuesday. It’s not great, I’d like him to play against Freiburg, but as things stand today that won’t be possible.”

Kane has once again been in sterling form for his club as he continues to topple records in Germany.

The 32-year-old has 31 league goals in 26 appearances, while in total he has 48 in 40 games.

At the start of March a calf issue kept Kane out of Bayern’s 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, his first absence of the season.

When Kane returned, he did so off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, unable to strike in his 29 minutes on the pitch.

He did, though, net a strike in his last game for Bayern, during a 4-0 win over Union Berlin.

Kane’s career has previously been blighted by ankle issues, with two in 2019.

The second of those almost saw him miss out on the Champions League final, however he returned for the defeat to Liverpool after six weeks out.

Kane then went out of his way to bring the problems to an end, consulting with Dr Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco.
