‘Grow up’ – Tottenham players slammed by Troy Deeney for ’embarrassing’ gesture
Troy Deeney criticised Tottenham’s players after they gathered for a on-pitch huddle at half-time during the 2-2 draw at Newcastle.
Spurs kicked off Tuesday night’s clash on the back of three consecutive defeats but stopped the rot in dramatic fashion.

Captain Cristian Romero scored twice in the final 12 minutes, including a last-gasp overhead kick, to cancel out goals from Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon.
However, it failed to mask yet another questionable display from Spurs, who even managed to infuriate Deeney after the half-time whistle…
Tottenham’s new show of togetherness
After an uninspiring first-half at St James’ Park, Tottenham’s outfield players gathered for a public huddle before going down the tunnel.
Huddles in football are often seen before kick off or at the end of games but rarely at half time.
The only player not involved in the huddle was goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario who was embroiled in a heated discussion with Magpies’ defender Dan Burn.
The pre-half-time gathering appears to be a new occurrence among the Tottenham squad having done the same thing in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham.
Former Watford striker Deeney was critical of the gesture and had some strong words for Frank’s men.
“Grow up. Do me a favour. It’s embarrassing,” Deeney told talkSPORT.
“They want to show they’re together. You know how you should you’re together? By being together.”
Regardless of the reasoning behind the huddle, it appeared to work wonders as Spurs staged a spirited late comeback at St James’ Park to earn a 2-2 draw.

Romero hits back
In response to the recent tensions surrounding the club, the World Cup winner stood facing the travelling Spurs fans while cupping his hands behind his ears.
Not content with doing it once, Romero cupped his ears once again following his 95th-minute leveller.
The draw sees Spurs bring their losing run to an end at a ground where they have lost on each of their last four visits in all competitions – shipping 14 goals in the process.
Tottenham have provisionally moved up to 11th place in the table with 19 points ahead of a home clash with Frank’s former club Brentford on Saturday.
Frank did himself no favours in his bid to enjoy a fruitful relationship with Spurs fans after telling them they were wrong to boo Vicario following his error in the defeat to Fulham.
His words only sought to further annoy Tottenham fans who remain disgruntled by the club’s recent form with no league win since the 3-0 victory at Everton on October 26.
