Suljovic, his third round opponent on Saturday, is at the third round stage of the PDC World Darts Championship for the sixth time in his career, and the first time in three attempts, but has never made it beyond the current round.

The Austrian, currently ranked 60th in the world, has already knocked out David Cameron of Canada in four sets, before upsetting the odds knock out 32nd seed Joe Cullen in the last round, also in four sets

The 53-year-old, nicknamed ‘the Gentle’, hadn’t won a match at Alexandra Palace since 2022 before this year and has endured a difficult year in the run up to the current Championships, reaching the fifth round of the UK Open but aside from that, hadn’t won a singles televised match since March 2024.
