Arne Slot’s side successfully overturned last week’s 1-0 first leg deficit at Anfield.

And it turned out to be a particularly painful evening for Napoli loanee Lang.

Horror injury

The Dutch winger had to leave the pitch on a stretcher after colliding with the pitchside advertising hoardings.

Lang’s thumb was left sliced open after the incident, which left him in agony on the turf.

He could be seen wincing as he got to his feet, with blood pouring down his arm.

Following treatment from the medical staff, the Galatasaray forward was placed on a stretcher to a round of applause from the Anfield crowd.

Mauro Icardi came off the bench for the Turkish side to replace his stricken teammate.

With just ten minutes remaining, though, the striker was unable to inspire a comeback.

Meanwhile, Lang himself had only been introduced as a substitute earlier in the match.

The 26-year-old replaced full-back Sacha Boey at half-time with his side already trailing 1-0 on the night.

Lang is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli after completing a switch to the club in January which includes an option to buy.

Liverpool cruise into next round

Dominik Szoboszlai’s first half goal had levelled the tie on aggregate as Liverpool made a fast start in front of their home fans.

Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch then scored two minutes apart to put the hosts in control of the tie.

Mohamed Salah would go on to add a fourth as they ultimately eased into the last eight.

The Egyptian had earlier missed a first half penalty before getting himself on the scoresheet.

Liverpool will now face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals next month.
