Francis Ngannou reveals two-man hitlist and confirms PFL contract expires before UFC White House

Francis Ngannou has revealed that his PFL contract is set to expire in time for the UFC’s unprecedented White House card next June.

The Cameroonian cage fighter left MMA’s premier promotion for the PFL in January 2023 while he was still the UFC heavyweight champion.

As part of his new deal, Ngannou is permitted to compete in boxing, where he has earned two lucrative paydays against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

The 39-year-old has, ironically, fought less for the PFL during this time, with his only appearance for the company coming in October 2024 when he flattened Renan Ferreira to become the inaugural PFL Super Fight heavyweight champion.

Despite this, he is now nearing the end of his time with the promotion, and told Ariel Helwani on Wednesday that he is open to a sensational UFC comeback.

Francis Ngannou’s contract is expiring “soon”

“I think [my next fight] is going to be MMA since I’m getting very close with the PFL contract [ending],” Ngannou told The Ariel Helwani Show on Wednesday.

“They have to give me a fight.”

The matchup that would tempt Ngannou back to the UFC is one with Jon Jones.

And while Ngannou isn’t confident the mega fight will get over the line, he believes “there’s a chance” and insists “anything can happen” with the White House card.

“I don’t have a hand in it, so I’m not the decision-maker,” he added.

Francis Ngannou’s acrimonious split with Dana White

If Ngannou wants to return to the Octagon, he will need to mend fences with UFC president Dana White.

The pair parted ways on acrimonious terms, with White insisting that Ngannou had manhandled him during a particularly heated dispute.

When pressed on the situation, Ngannou refused to respond.

“Why am I not surprised?” Ngannou said.

“At some point, it feels very annoying to just have to be responsible of what people say.

“Basically, if Dana says this, then I’m out here to defend myself against what Dana said, or whoever.

“I think, whatever he said, if he’s at peace with it, it’s ok… No, I don’t find it important [to respond]. I don’t find it necessary.

“At some point it was, but over time, it’s not anymore. Maybe I’m getting old. I have less energy for drama or for stuff. I just want to be at peace, and for people to leave me alone. That’s all.”

Francis Ngannou is also eyeing a boxing bout with Deontay Wilder

If Ngannou’s next fight doesn’t happen in MMA, then he is also very keen on a boxing bout with former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

While Ngannou believes a crossover clash with Wilder would be easier to make than one with Jones, he insists neither are simple deals to thrash out.

“The timing is good for sure, but there are still a lot of elements put into it,” he added of a potential dust-up with Wilder.
