Fans left baffled by new 20,000-seater Red Bull stadium which ‘looks like a call centre’

Brazilian club Red Bull Bragantino have released images of their new 20,000-capacity stadium.

The ground is currently under construction on the site of their old home.

However, fans have been left confused by the design of the venue, which will host top-flight football.

Bragantino currently play in the Brazilian Serie A, having finished 10th last season.

Their top half finish came despite spending half of the season away from their home ground.

The club played their final match at the Estadio Nabi Abi Chedid in April before it was demolished to make way for the new arena.

First opened in 1949, their old home had a capacity of 17,000 supporters.

That figure will be raised by 3,000 at the new stadium, which is set to feature lounges, restaurants and bars.

It will also be a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting other sports and events once completed.

The rectangular design of the arena has baffled fans, though, with the box-like exterior also featuring a raised silver roof across all four stands.

Reacting to the design on social media, one supporter wrote: “I can’t decide if I love it or if it looks like a call centre.”

Another added: “Looks like a cardboard IKEA box.”

Meanwhile, a third fan simply commented: “Looks soulless.”

During the stadium’s construction, Bragantino are playing at the Estadio Cicero de Souza Marques.

The 12,000-capacity ground was purpose built to host their matches whilst their usual home is being rebuilt.

Bragantino are set to play Copa Sudamericana fixtures at the stadium next season after qualifying for the continental competition this term.

They previously reached the final of South America’s equivalent of the Europa League back in 2021.

Who are Red Bull Bragantino?

Originally founded in 1928, Bragantino have been owned by Red Bull for the last five years.

Following their takeover, the group changed the club’s name from Clube Atletico Bragantino as well as altering their colours.

The club is now one of seven clubs to form Red Bull’s football network.

Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, RB Leipzig and Japanese side RB Omiya Ardija are all fully controlled by the group.

Meanwhile, they own 10 per cent and 15 per cent stakes in Leeds United and Paris FC, respectively.
