Erling Haaland smashes all-time Premier League record as Fulham fall agonisingly short of history

Erling Haaland joined the Premier League 100 club in record-breaking fashion during a nine-goal thriller against Fulham.

The Manchester City superstar scored the opener for City in their 5-4 win over Fulham with an excellent first-time effort.

In doing so, Haaland became the fastest player in Premier League history to hit 100 goals, doing so in 111 appearances.

All-time record goalscorer Alan Shearer, who netted 260 goals, has now been usurped as he reached the 100-mark in 124 matches.

But what followed was even more spectacular.

City raced into a 5-1 lead thanks to goals from Tijjani Reijnders, two from Phil Foden and Sander Berge putting the ball in his own net.

Despite the four-goal deficit, Fulham came agonisingly close to salvaging a historic point.

Alex Iwobi pulled one back before two quickfire goals from Samuel Chukwueze meant City needed to hold out for the closing 20 minutes including stoppage time.

It would have equalled the biggest comeback in Premier League history – four goals – after Newcastle drew 4-4 with Arsenal in 2011.

However, while Haaland wrote his name in Premier League folklore, Fulham fell just short.

Haaland joins 100 club

Haaland is the 35th and newest member of the 100 club, and seventh to have played for City.

He joins Andy Cole, Sergio Aguero, Frank Lampard, Robbie Fowler, Nicolas Anelka and Raheem Sterling as City representatives.

Match Stats

The remarkable Norwegian, who has just led his country to its first World Cup since 1998, continues to set goalscoring records.

He’s now onto 15 goals for the Premier League season, reaching that tally in just 14 appearances.

It leaves him well on track to win another Golden Boot, which would be his third since joining Man City in 2022.

Haaland won the award with an incredible 36 goals in his debut campaign, before claiming it again with 27 in 2023/24.

Last term was an off one by his high standards, as he finished third in the scoring charts with 22 goals for the season.

On top of his now 100 Premier League goals, Haaland also has 18 assists to his name in the top flight.
