‘Don’t even like it’ – Lions star questionable just hours after blasting NFL for playing on Christmas Day

The Detroit Lions are at the point of no return.

Dan Campbell’s squad face the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day and have several players listed as questionable ahead of a game they must win – or they will be eliminated from playoff contention.

The last up of stars includes number one receiver Amon-Ra St.Brown who is dealing with an issue with his knee.

St.Brown missed practice on Monday before being limited on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Amon-Ra St. Brown, the Lions’ star receiver, was out the first day of the practice week with a knee injury,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport said on Wednesday.

“Dan Campbell clarifying it is really just irritation in his knee.”

While it’s unclear if he will definitely play, the expectation is that he will feature because St.Brown is known as one of the toughest players in the league, repeatedly playing through injuries.

“My understanding is we should expect Amon-Ra St. Brown to play because, of course, he always plays,” Rapoport added.

“Remember when he had that high-ankle sprain and was supposed to miss the game against the [Dallas] Cowboys and didn’t miss it? That is how he rolls.”

St. Brown is enjoying another stellar season for the Lions, and his absence would be a big blow to the team.

So far this campaign, he has caught 98 passes for 1,194 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.

St.Brown blasts Christmas schedule

While St.Brown will certainly take to the field, if he is fit, it’s safe to say he isn’t pleased about having to play on Christmas Day.

Before he was officially listed as questionable, the 26-year-old expressed his disappointment about having to work on the holidays, on his “St. Brown Podcast” with his older brother, Equanimeous.

“The two biggest holidays I feel like in the United States, we played on both of them.” St.Brown said.

“And I don’t even have kids yet. If I had kids, I’d be even more p*****. Like, you can’t be spending it with your family, get to see your kids open gifts. I feel like that’s something that a lot of parents love to see and can’t wait for.

“I don’t even like it, and I’m not even a f—ing father yet.”

The Lions always play on Thanksgiving Day, so this is something he would have to accept when he signed his four-year, $120 million extension last year.

However – like the Cowboys and the Chiefs – they have been dealt the hand of playing on both holidays, which illustrates how far the franchise has come.

It’s tough for the Lions who are on the road in Minneapolis having hosted the Thanksgiving game against Green Bay.

“Us traveling, it’s like, damn,” he added,

St.Brown will have to quickly focus on the task ahead should he play against the Vikings.

Detroit needs to win its remaining two games while hoping that its NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers, lose their final two games.

The Packers face the equally desperate Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, before finishing up against the Vikings.

After their trip to Minnesota, the Lions – who have lost three of their last four games – finish up the season in Chicago, to face a Bears team that have already confirmed a return to the postseason and are chasing the NFC North title and possible No 1 seed.
