‘Different vibes’ – Beau Greaves reveals what it’s like to play Luke Littler vs Luke Humphries

Beau Greaves has lifted the lid on what it is like to face both Luke Littler and Luke Humphries – and how it differs playing each of them.

The two-time Women’s World Matchplay champion – who is set to become a fan favourite at Alexandra Palace when the World Darts Championship begins – has faced each of the world’s top two players this year.

Littler and Humphries have established themselves as the dominant forces in darts across the last two years.

Since the start of 2024, the pair have won 11 of the 16 PDC major events including the last two PDC World Darts Championships.

Their run at the top of the sport dates back to Littler’s stunning run to the final at Alexandra Palace two years ago.

Meanwhile, Humphries went into the event fresh from winning the Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship finals.

Cool Hand would claim victory over Littler at Ally Pally to become world no.1, a title he lost to the Nuke last month.

What is the difference between Littler and Humphries?

Despite the similarities between their recent success on the oche, Greaves admits their is a key difference between the two Lukes.

Speaking to talkSPORT, she told Drive: “Littler is different. Littler is a young lad.

“He’s just a lad. Like it’s kind of a different vibe playing him.

“Humphries is like your more serious professional. Littler is more like he likes to mess around a little bit.

“They’ve got different attitudes towards the game, but obviously they’re both brilliant players.

“I think playing Humphries felt more serious… they’re both nice, great lads, but Littler is just younger.”

Greaves produced a stunning display to beat Littler in the semi-finals of the PDC World Youth Championship earlier this year.

Her victory over the teenager denied him the chance to become a two-time winner, with Gian van Veen instead capturing the title.

Littler had previously faced Greaves in August at Players Championship 24, with the 18-year-old securing a dramatic 6-5 win.

Beau ‘n’ Arrow was also on the wrong side of a 10-7 scoreline against Humphries at the start of the year.

The world no.2 ended her historic run to the fourth round of the UK Open in February.

Greaves secured three wins in one day to become the first woman ever to reach the last 32.

Humphries hailed her performance after the match, admitting: “She belongs in big-time darts.

“She belongs in this environment. She really did test me there and if we were in a Premier League game she would have beaten me.”

Littler and Humphries’ status as the top two seeds has seen them kept apart until the final of this month’s PDC World Darts Championship – which starts on Thursday night.

However, Greaves has been drawn into the same half of the draw as Humphries, although they cannot meet until the last eight.

Humphries then gets his campaign underway on Saturday evening in a clash with Ted Evetts.
