Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora plunged into chaos over glove dispute as promoter admits it’s a ‘big issue’
Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora have been embroiled in a glove dispute at the eleventh hour.
Wilder and Chisora are set to meet in a high-stakes heavyweight clash tomorrow night at London’s O2 arena, with the action live on talkSPORT.

But as is so often the case in boxing, a late dispute has broken out between the two camps, just hours before the pair are due to weigh in.
It is believed the dramatic behind-the-scenes disagreement is surrounding the gloves for the fight.
After being asked why things ‘kicked off’, promoter Kalle Sauerland told iFL TV: “There were some dramatics this morning at the weigh-in over the gloves.
“There were dramas, those dramas are currently being resolved. It isn’t our first rodeo, this isn’t uncharted territory.
“There is some issues around the gloves, I can confirm that. It was a big flash point.
“I’m confident we get it sorted, but there’s a big issue at the moment. That is now being dealt with.”
The teams will likely thrash out the issues and try to resolve the issues before this evening’s ceremonial weigh-in.
It is not Wilder’s first dispute over fight gloves, having had similar issues with Tyson Fury during their famous trilogy.
After losing in their rematch, the ‘Bronze Bomber’ accused Fury of loading his gloves by placing an object in them.
Fury strongly denied the wild allegations, but the pair then met for a third time.

Before their third bout, Wilder then forced inspectors to carry out checks on his rival’s gloves for having horse hair in them and over further tampering.
Ultimately he fell to defeat twice against Fury, but he stands by his accusations that the Briton cheated.
Prior to their recent dispute, the heavy-handed pair have been on good terms.
And Sauerland’s update suggests that hopes will be that the fight can go ahead as planned.
What is at stake for Wilder vs Chisora?
It is no wonder tensions are so high given so much is on the line.
For Chisora, it is expected to be his 50th and final fight, and he is keen to end on an all-time high to sign off his career.

For Wilder, he is hoping at the age of 40 that he can breathe late life into his heavyweight stint.
Victory for the boxing superstar could see him look to try and launch a surprise late charge at world honours.
Oleksandr Usyk previously indicated he would be open to facing the dynamite puncher, and he will hope to lure him back to the negotiating table.
